🔍 Curious about where your electricity comes from and its environmental impact? Check out Electricity Maps! This fascinating tool provides real-time data on power generation sources and carbon intensity across different regions. In the U.S., you'll notice that many Western states are leading the way in renewable energy adoption. States like California, Oregon, and Idaho have significant contributions from solar and wind power, resulting in much lower carbon emissions and a cleaner energy profile compared to other regions. Exploring this map can deepen your understanding of the benefits of renewable energy sources... like solar power. Solar energy is not only sustainable but also boasts one of the lowest marginal costs of energy—the additional cost to produce one more unit of electricity. This leads to significant savings for homeowners and businesses, and with substantial government subsidies, solar becomes an even more attractive option for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs. Take a few minutes to explore Electricity Maps and see the difference that renewable energy can make. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability #ElectricityMaps SolarTech

Quick overview of #power generation sources, #carbon intensity and #energy flow between countries in real-time - almost world-wide! Great to also see the direct impact/share of #renewables as #solar / #pv. Very cool thing and best is: it is open-source! Last night from 5pm to 6am, Western Australia's wind turbines delivered 0% of their installed capacity. You can see WA's hourly electricity origin here: https://lnkd.in/gvbGfpXs More windmills, which regularly deliver 0% of their installed capacity, are not a solution. More solar panels, which deliver 0% of their installed capacity every night, are also not a solution. WA needs electricity generation that works all of the time, including windless nights.

This is power map ⚡one of my favorites❤ It clearly shows how the energy transition is developing, how we have a long way to god and how we need to do it together. It also shows why Equinor efforts in renewables in Poland makes sense, and if you look at it when the wind is not blowing in the North Sea/ Atlantic, you clearly see why Europe needs a baseload solution - and batteries, to compensate for the ever changing weather⚡🌞 https://lnkd.in/dy3NK43j

A #districtheating system is much more energy efficient compared to #hydrogen used directly as a heating fuel. A #bluehydrogen district heating system is about 267% more efficient than blue hydrogen alone. Read more over at Visualizing Energy. https://lnkd.in/dRaHg-7D

How can a gas refinery produce sustainable high pressure steam to convert natural gas into hydrogen product (SMR)? Where does it find the energy to sequester SMR-derived CO2 emissions into stable, verifiable, stored storage? When the wind stops blowing and the sun does not shine, it makes financial sense to depend on a base-load form of renewables, else decarbonization or CCU/CCS will continue to be an expensive compliance hassle. In the business of energy, whatever form it may be, going for where reserves are plentiful, predictable and "always on" is the only path towards the lowest cost per kWh, mmBTU, MJ. https://lnkd.in/e3gvdmaU #oilgas #energy #money #sustainability

"Is the power grid up to the task?” A commonly asked question that will only become more prevalent with the increasing number of electric vehicles and heat pumps. In terms of electricity supply, there's currently no issue; there's plenty available. The biggest challenge lies in the capacity of the power grid. Today, we already work with peak and off-peak tariffs to spread consumption. This means that as a consumer, you may sometimes need to use more expensive electricity when circumstances don't allow charging your car at off-peak rates, for example. Moreover, with the growing number of transitions from applications relying on fossil fuels to electricity, the capacity of the power grid will become increasingly tight. Imagine if everyone coming home simultaneously turns on lights, starts cooking and doing laundry, and charges their car. The network simply couldn't handle it. Investments in renewable energy generation won't be sufficient; investments in energy storage will be equally crucial. This way, you can not only become independent of the power grid but also ensure access to affordable energy. What is the biggest challenge in your industry?
