I read this news where Sharan Hegde invested investor’s money (including Nikhil Kamath) of Rs.10 crores in fixed deposits. He gets around 8.5% annually in return as interest. Which is perfectly fine to me (atleast). Now Imagine if initiatives like Change With One Meal gets little more amount than this (~Rs.15 Cr) and the amount is invested in FD. There will be more than 1000 people who can get unlimited meals forever and without even raising any new penny. I think investors who are betting big on startups should also think of #impact #investment to bring #change. Just to give little background, the cost per meal comes to Rs.35 (including all the expenses) and charged Rs.10 from the beneficiaries. The remaining Rs.25 is what is needed to serve one person at #changewithonemeal What’s your thought on this?

Such a powerful concept! Investing for impact like this shows how strategic finance can truly drive sustainable change. Allocating funds to generate stable returns, which then support meaningful causes like #changewithonemeal, creates a ripple effect that goes beyond traditional investments. Imagine the potential if more investors saw the value in this kind of impact investment- It could redefine CSR and bring lasting change. Kudos for highlighting this, and I hope more of us in the finance and business sectors consider how we can blend profitability with purpose!

We are living in a world where a girl posting a copied post with a good picture of hers gets more likes than an original content with a good intent. I wish you good luck and will support you in whatever way I can.

Great philanthropic action. I wish all big corporates keep some chunk of their profits and trim or pause dividend payout and use the model as described Hunger index may improve for India

So, 15Cr is needed for just 1000, that's Rs 1.5 lacs per person! That too for an (almost) free meal which govt is anyway giving to 80 Cr people (perhaps). Don't you think that instead of 'spending' 1.5 Lacs per person on food, a fraction of this money should be given as loan to open some cottage business ( give sewing machines to women, hand cart to men for selling fruits & vegetables, autorickshaw to transport fresh produce from farms to cities......).

Hi Kiran Verma I am following you since a long time and I appreciate the initiative you are taking to give back to the society. A lot of people at a better position can not think of doing what you are doing today. I try to contribute with what ever I can. Business and philanthropy are two different aspects and hence act of kindness takes time to receive funding as there is no return. Keep it simple- for the People By the people. I am sure someday you will scale and we could see Change With One Meal in every city of India. All the best ❤️

Unused funds being FD alone still doesn't sound like a good money management. Plus, investors invested that money on the company to make 20x+ profit. So if the company is just parking the money for usage later, then it makes sense to earn some interest out of it. PS: If 8.5% is the interest, then ~2% of it goes into taxes and what you get in hand is 6.5%
