Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously voted to advance HR 1406, Sustainable Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services in the Home Act, as part of the Telehealth Modernization Act (HR 7623). This crucial legislation will allow virtual delivery of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services through 2026, expanding access for patients in need!   A huge thank you to our members for your relentless advocacy in making this possible. But the work isn't over yet — we need your voice to help push this over the finish line. The telehealth package will need to be considered by the full House of Representatives and U.S. Senate before the end of the year.   Participate in our Take Action Campaign and send a letter to your U.S. Representative and Senators, urging them to cosponsor this bill and support its passage. Folks, there's a concerning trend in the mild hyperbaric community: the belief that because they use air compression, they can skirt around federal laws and guidelines regarding pressure vessels and fire safety. As a result, they've been installing these chambers in businesses and homes without regard for safety regulations or standards. Upholding Compliance in Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinics: Navigating Regulatory Challenges in Outpatient and Home Settings In the dynamic landscape of healthcare, the integration of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy into outpatient clinics and even home settings presents a myriad of challenges for stakeholders. Architects, builders, and healthcare providers must navigate complex regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and uphold patient safety, particularly in the context of mild hyperbaric clinics operating both in outpatient facilities and people's homes. While outpatient clinics are well-versed in design and compliance standards, the expansion of HBO therapy into home settings adds an additional layer of complexity. Federal laws and guidelines governing HBO therapy apply not only to traditional outpatient facilities but also to home-based treatments. However, the rise of mild hyperbarics operating in homes has led to concerns regarding compliance and regulatory oversight.
