Did you know that the strength of the physician’s endorsement significantly increases the likelihood of patient participation? When doctors encourage their patients to attend cardiac rehab and share the value of it, patients are much more likely to attend. This doesn’t happen as often as it should though. Studies have shown that certain patient populations had lower referral rates including women, certain minority groups, and patients not undergoing a revascularization intervention. When the physician assumes how the patient might be able to manage CR - this can sometimes lead to missed opportunities. For example, sicker patients and those in long term care facilities were less likely to be referred. Help us spread the word about the value of cardiac rehab - conversations with your own doctor (if you’re the patient) as well as conversations with hospital colleagues and administrators can help tremendously. The more we talk about it, the more we have the opportunity for positive change!

Now, accessible new technologies are creating new ways for innovating value-based care in telehealth.   Value-based care is a huge opportunity for the medical industry. A recent McKinsey report found the U.S. will incur an additional $600 billion in health care costs through 2027 as a result of the pandemic. It also suggests that if the health care industry shifts up to 40% value-base care models – we could achieve industry-wide savings of up to $550 billion. By aligning incentives with patient outcomes, we've seen significant reductions in overall healthcare costs while maintaining high-quality care standards.   We firmly believe that value-based care is not only the future of healthcare but also a catalyst for financial resilience and growth.   Congratulations to our cardiology teams for the successful launch of this program!

Today is #WorldStrokeDay – a powerful reminder of the importance of stroke awareness, early intervention, and continued advancements in treatment and rehabilitation. Working with Johnson & Johnson MedTech, I’ve seen how advancements in medical devices are transforming the landscape of stroke treatment and recovery. For me, this day is not just a call to raise awareness – it’s a reflection of why I’m so passionate about the work I do. Each new development, and each project, brings us closer to solutions that are faster, more precise, and more supportive of long-term recovery for stroke patients. Seeing patients regain mobility, reclaim their independence, and rebuild their lives drives me to keep pushing forward. The impact of a stroke is life-changing, not just for those affected but for their families as well. That’s why, on this #WorldStrokeDay, I’m grateful to be part of an industry dedicated to saving lives and improving outcomes.
