🎥 Recordings of our presentation on Copenhagen AWS User Group Meetup in June 2024 In this talk, Krzysztof Słowiński and Pooyan Razian discussed some of the challenges tech companies face in managing different volumes of data for different purposes. Then, for data analytics, we discussed centralized and decentralized approaches and different architectures for building Data Lakes, Data Meshes, etc. After that, we discussed seven selected challenges in building data platforms and how Amazon Web Services (AWS) could help us and enterprise companies like the hypothetical case we chose for our talk. Data Engineering using AWS EMR - Here is a rundown of how I achieved it. 1. Data Storage: Stored raw data in Amazon S3. 2. Network Setup: Created a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for secure networking. 3. Cluster Creation: Set up an Amazon EMR cluster. 4. Secure Access: Used CLI to SSH into the EMR cluster. 5. Data Transformation: Wrote Spark jobs to transform CSV data into Parquet format. Output Storage: Saved the transformed data back to S3. Building the first Data Pipeline is Hard! But, once you do - understanding DE on any cloud platform becomes easy. I believe building is the best way of learning and so I’ve built this data pipeline on AWS.
