Good Morning SACDS! Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help your colleagues, classmates, and friends, effected by the horrific wildfires in Southern California. The CDA Foundation has set a special fund just to help members and their teams who need assistance due to the fires. Donation instructions are below. Let’s show our dental family in LA that SACDS is here for them. The Foundation has opened the Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund to help our colleagues and community members displaced by this disaster. The fund is now accepting monetary donations from anyone who wishes to support this effort, and one hundred percent of your tax-deductible donation will go toward those in need.    How to donate: Specify the amount of your donation. Select the frequency of your donation (one-time). Choose “Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund” from the drop-down menu. Fill in the remaining fields and select “continue” to proceed with payment. (Volume-related delays are impacting page load times. If you experience a delay, try refreshing the page. Once you submit payment, do not close the window until you see a payment confirmation message which will include a link to your payment receipt. FHLB Dallas has provided a $250,000 charitable donation to Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico to support recovery efforts in Chaves County following devastating floods. The funds will help residents and businesses rebuild after severe storms damaged more than 400 homes and 200 businesses in Roswell and surrounding areas, including the districts of Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez and Gabe Vasquez for Congress. Heart on Main Street is raising money to help retailers impacted by recent storms throughout the US. In the last two weeks, deadly tornados have affected entire communities and destroyed locally-owned businesses in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Texas. This year alone, already hundreds of locally-owned independent retail stores have become victims of natural disasters. These unexpected disasters have affected retailers in every part of the country. While businesses are insured, there is often a gap between the cost of recovery and what they are paid out. This leaves retailers on the hook for thousands of dollars if they want to re-open their store and remain a part of the community. Independent retailers are huge drivers of the local economy and helping these retailers recover brings hope back to these affected communities. They bring a sense of normalcy to areas that have lost so much.
