Youth Sports Parents Are Hypocrites! Prove Me Wrong Everyone says they want sports to return to the good old days when fun, fair play, good sportsmanship, and good values ruled the day. But as the stakes grow and resources become scarcer, are the youth sports leaders and parents walking the talk? Can they afford to? As a parent of young athletes, you are constantly bombarded with choices and opportunities. You start with a plan and standards for which you hold yourself and your family accountable. Then reality starts to hit; things are not as above board as you thought. The unfairness and gaslighting begin. You try to hold frame, stay true to yourself, and then an opportunity appears for your child; accepting goes against your basic tenets of right and wrong...kind of. Wow, I mentioned that parents of youth athletes were complaining too much about the time, financial, and emotional toll having kids participating in youth sports was having on them, and I said too bad, suck it up. And the response was different from what I had expected. I want to empathize with you as parents in this video, but with solutions, not excuses.
