Prove It Part V Operational Assessment for Your New Food Product Why Operational Assessments? 5 Key Reasons “It’s tasty, people like it. Now to figure out how to get it to the masses! You’ve proved your concept and got consumer feedback. In the journey from concept to market, understanding your operational capabilities is crucial. Here's why an operational assessment is essential for your product's success: 1. Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure your plant or copacker can produce the product as you envisioned? Do they have the right technologies and equipment. Check if the necessary technologies and equipment are available and if the output quality meets your standards. 2. Workflow Efficiency: Go through the process in person, in the plant. Know exactly how and where the steps are going to be. What machines are you going to use. In what order. Act it out like it’s a practice. Streamline workflows and optimize processes. Look for steps that can be eliminated or automated, understand the product flow, and address any inefficiencies causing delays or waste. 3. Staffing Needs: On your in-person tour of the plant, make sure you know where the people will be that are actually doing the work. Determine the human resources required for each production stage. Ensure the right skills and training are in place and fill any staffing gaps. 4. Identifying Bottlenecks: Pinpoint problem areas slowing down production. Address equipment limitations and resolve bottlenecks to improve efficiency. 5. Smoothing the Path to Scale-Up: Ensure processes are scalable without compromising quality. Make necessary adjustments for larger production volumes and preemptively manage potential issues. Running a pilot version of your concept provides practical insights into food safety, workflow efficiencies, staff requirements, and potential bottlenecks. This proactive approach will ensure smooth and efficient operation when you're ready to scale up. Not sure where to start? We develop food and drink products for every kind and size of food company. With CBC coming up, your brewery is sure to come away with exciting new ideas. Use data as safety net for confident innovation. How do you ensure all these new ideas will work for your craft brewery? It’s all about implementing smartly, monitoring closely, and adjusting quickly. Step 1: Implement Start by clearly defining what success looks like for the new idea—whether it’s a new beer style or a creative marketing approach. Break down the implementation into manageable steps, set timelines, and assign responsibilities. Think through what data you will need to collect to understand performance. Step 2: Monitor As your new idea goes live, use a data monitoring system to track its performance against your expectations. This system should give you real-time insights, allowing you to see immediately if things are going as planned. It’s crucial that this data is easy to understand so that you can make decisions quickly without needing to dig through complex reports. And try to go a few levels deep, so you can understand what really drives the performance. Step 3: Learn and Adjust If the data shows that the idea isn't meeting your goals, don’t hesitate to pivot. This might mean tweaking the recipe, changing the marketing message, or even pausing the project to gather more information. The goal is to minimize losses and learn from the experience, improving your strategy for the next attempt. In our example image, we can see a brewery that had a pretty flat launch of a new beer, they tried something new, saw that it wasn’t working, made a smart adjustment, and sales took off. By monitoring results before and after the change they quickly knew when things weren’t going to plan. By following these steps, you can take bold steps forward without fear. Remember, a well-set monitoring system acts not just as a safety net, but as a guide to steering your innovative efforts towards success. Want to discuss setting up a data system that supports innovation? Reach out, and let's ensure your next big idea has the best chance to succeed ... Cheers to innovating with confidence!

part 6 concluding part MASTERING COMPLEXITY WITH THE CONSUMER-FIRST PRODUCT PORTFOLIO,!!! For instance, The food company now includes the menus and platforms in its initial design-brief templates, so that new products take advantage of a revised list of less-expensive ingredients and common flavor platforms. Additional decision gates include go–no go criteria based on the alignment of the proposed product to the menus and platforms. Companies can also use menus and platforms to assess their current portfolios and find opportunities to retrofit for faster value generation—perhaps accelerating existing packaging- or branding-review cycles to keep momentum going. Sustainability reviews offer further options for reinforcing the portfolio performance toolkit: the beverage company has used its menus and platforms to inform decisions about material substitutions in light of consumers’ rapidly evolving expectations on reducing environmental impact. Conclusively and finally, portfolio optimization means striking the right balance between efficiency and consumer value drivers. Both practical and tangible, a consumer-backed approach to portfolio performance is more relevant than ever and can be done relatively quickly with cross-functional resources. Now is the time to capture both short-term savings on existing business and structurally innovate for the future as innovation and automation had now become a competitive advantage for business , organization or companies and anyone that priotize this reap the benefit.Permlt me to draw the curtains here, Please like and follow me as I leave loads of inspiring , educative and informative topics in the pipeline.Am open to opportunity, ready And willing to work, Learn, impact positively and aswell relocate.Good day all.#africasglobalbank #harvardbusinessschool #cbn #affdb #universityofchicago #bankofengland

The art of making smart choices that will bring most value to a product is what is termed #Prioritization. This framework (Prioritization) offer a clear method for evaluating task, allowing teams to focus on what matters the most. MOSCOW is an easy -to- remember acronym that stands for: Must-Have: These are most essential part of product, if not present, the product is not yet completed. Let me break it down for you, with e.g. have you bought a biscuit not sealed inside a nylon or container, or have you ever cook any meal and forgot to add a pinch of salt?, I know your answers are no, you see that biscuit wrapper, containers and that pinch of salt are examples of must have ingredients or features in ensuring the product is well delivered. Should Have: These features are important but not critical for initial launch e.g as good as cow meat could be inside a pot of stew, it's might not be necessary if you don't have the means. Could Have: These features are nice to have and can enhance the product but they are not essential e.g think of a pot of stew with only goat meat, you as a foodie longing to have a pot of stew with assorted meats. Won't Have (for now): These are features that might be interesting but aren't a priority at the moment e.g having a pot of stew at the moment but thinking of how to make egusi soup with assorted meat just to enable you have different taste, for now Egusi soup can wait (especially in this economy). MOSCOW Prioritization frame work helps. Product Managers and their teams set clear priorities which happens when a project expands beyond it's original plan, it's also helpful when resources are limited or deadlines are tight. #Productmanagers #Priortizationframeworks #MOSCOW
