🧐 Cracking the Code of French Wine Labels! 🇫🇷🍷 French wine labels can seem complex, but understanding a few key terms helps unlock a whole world of amazing wine. Here's a quick guide to making sense of those elegant labels: - Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC): Defines the region where the wine was produced, ensuring strict quality and authenticity rules. - Vin de France: Wines labeled this way offer more flexibility and may feature non-traditional blends or winemaking styles. - Cru: Refers to vineyards or wine-growing areas recognized for superior quality. - Château vs. Domaine: While both refer to wine estates, a Château typically includes a historic estate or building, while Domaine refers to a family-owned property. 💡 That’s just a small number from the full list we shine a light on 🔦 🎯Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g4WzqgrP #frenchwine #winelabels

#MomentBehindTheWines 📍 Terrazas de los Andes, Mendoza, Argentina Maison Terrazas de los Andes received scores from the renowned British critic Tim Atkin for its most prestigious mountain wines. These four wines, which make up and tell the story of Terrazas de los Andes' Ascension Journey, have been selected among the best wines of the year. Furthermore, their iconic wine, Terrazas de los Andes Extremo Malbec 2021, is ranked among the top 7 wines in Argentina. "Lucas LÖWI describes growing grapes at 1,650 metres in El Espinillo as extreme viticulture, but the risk is worth the reward in most vintages. This is a thrilling, stunning Malbec that ranks alongside Argentina’s very best: refreshing, focused and medium-bodied with thyme, rosemary and jarilla aromas, subtle 30% new oak, lots of racy acidity and flavours of pepper, sage, bramble and black cherry. World class" Drink responsibly, do not forward to those underages. #MoëtHennessyWineEstates #MHWE #MoëtHennessy #LVMH

Krug Champagne is renowned for its contribution to the innovation of champagne production. They were one of the first champagne houses to perfect the art of blending wines from different vineyard plots to create a more complex and balanced final product. This process is now common practice for the traditional winemakers of Champagne, as it ensures a high quality and consistency regardless of the success of the grape yield. Last week saw the release of Krug 2011, scoring 95/100 from critics. This high-scoring Champagne has already maintained Krug's reputation of being one of the world's best wine producers in the world. 📈 🍷 #vinx #finewine #alternativeinvestments #alternativeassets

The LANGTONS Classification 8th Edition has just been announced. Since 1990 it’s been the definitive form guide to Australian fine wine. This latest edition consists of 100 wines in two tiers: 1st Classified, and Classified. “LANGTONS Classification has been the north star for wine collectors in Australia for some decades. A data-led, insights driven vinous collectable, the Classification poster has shaped how wine drinkers buy, sell and consume Australia's finest wines. At the same time, it has doubled as a talking point around countless dining tables and tasting benches across the land. The Classification is based on demand at auction. The Classification is not based on the subjective opinions of wine experts or LANGTONS auctioneers.” We will be touring Australia in 2024 to host a series of not-to-be-missed events showcasing the very finest Australian wines.
LANGTONS on Instagram: "First published in 1990, this latest edition is a fascinating snapshot of the evolving tastes of Australian collectors since its previous edition, published five years ago. Considered the go-to guide to Australia’s most highly-sought-after wines, the LANGTONS Classification reflects consumer demand, collectability, and prices fetched at auction. 🚀 The consecration of #MalbecArgentino as a national icon is a result of its identity, quality and also a dynamic oenological scene that achieves the best expressions that Argentine terroirs have to offer. 🗣️ “Malbec has proved itself malleable enough to adapt to different environments throughout Argentina, presenting a distinctive character wherever you go. Today, we’re versed in many more kinds of Malbec than twenty years ago,” says Juliana Del Águila at the Patagonian winery BODEGA DEL FIN DEL MUNDO. 🍷🇦🇷 The enthusiasm one sees in every professional is an excellent indicator of #ArgentineMalbec promising future: it’s a wine that keeps surprising consumers and winemakers alike. 🎯 Some voices are highlighting the need to explore #LowAlcohol wines, #NaturalWines, unaged wines and wines made with carbonic maceration to help develop the styles that consumers are increasingly demanding. 📣 As winemaker #AlejandroVigil concludes: “In the future, Malbec will be planted everywhere, across the country so we’re going to keep learning about it and that will help us to consolidate its status as a world-class wine.” 📎📲 Discover the constantly evolving world of Malbec Argentino in our blog article: https://lnkd.in/g_6ukKty 🥂 What’s your favorite Malbec from Argentina? #VinoArgentino #ArgentineWine #ArgentinasGotRange

Last week was a quiet week for Bordeaux 2023 releases as the Bordelais were in HK hosting a very well attended Vinexpo exhibition. The releases started again with a bang this morning in the form of Pauillac stalwart, Pichon Lalande, at a very sensible £1,320/12 ib. This is yet another spectacular Pichon Lalande from Nicolas Glumineau. We would expect nothing less... Pichon has been on top form, producing wines of First Growth quality for the last decade. 2023 continues this extraordinary sequence with another stunner. The critics are clearly smitten too, with William Kelley describing it as “a brilliant wine that will be worth a special effort to track down” and Neal Martin calling it “outstanding”. However, quality is only part of the story this year and I’m pleased to report that not only is this priced 36% below their superb, sell-out 2022 wine, it’s also 4% below the release price of their epic, sell-out 2019, making Pichon Lalande the first chateau to price their 2023 release below their 2019. In addition to an exceptional price, the Chateau have also released 20% less wine than last year putting even more pressure on supply. If you have yet to buy any 2023s, this is an excellent place to start and if you’ve already piled in, then this is one more wine you must own. Of course, I couldn’t mention Pichon Lalande without also mentioning Pichon Comtesse Reserve (£402/12 ib), their second wine. This wine is classed growth quality in all but name and is the perfect wine to pick up in a variety of formats. I cannot think of anything better to drink while you wait for the grand vin to mature. Vintage sherries (vinos de añada sherry). This photo is an introduction to vintage wines. The Denomination of Origin Jerez-Xérèz-Sherry also allow for the use of the "añadas", or vintage system. This is a static ageing system (as opposed to the dynamic criadera and solera system) in which sherry wines from a specific harvest are separately aged and at no time blended with other wines from different years. Some wineries have opted for this system, obtaining wines that differ from the soleras and criaderas system.
