ECHA's recently streamlined process for third-party consultations focuses on gathering data about alternative biocidal active substances. It helps in assessing highly hazardous substances for potential approval in the EU. Interested parties are encouraged to submit information on the societal impacts of alternatives and conditions for derogation. This consultation will enhance the evaluation process by providing additional insights beyond the application, aiding in determining approval and derogation criteria. The first consultations are expected to begin by the end of May on multiple active substances.
