Publication alert Dr. Manjula Bahuguna Anuja Jayaraman Sweety Pathak Vanessa D'Souza In India, Non-Degree Allopathic Providers (NDAPs), who do not have formal training in allopathic medicine, play a prominent role in basic healthcare delivery in both rural areas and urban informal settlements.Often recognized as providers of ‘first contact’ care for minor acute ailments, there is little information regarding the roles they play in providing services for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). In this study, we explore the roles played by NDAPs in diagnosing and managing two NCDs—diabetes and hypertension—in urban informal settlements of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. https://lnkd.in/dfAQmpA2

#Dontgamblewithyourheart 📢 Making Preventive Healthcare Affordable: A Call for Change 📢 Did you know that 1 in 3 deaths in India are caused by cardiovascular diseases (CVD), as per World Health Organization (WHO) data? That’s an alarming statistic, and while treatments exist to significantly reduce the risk, they remain out of reach for many. For Example, Take Icosapent Ethyl, a breakthrough in CVD prevention. Clinical studies show it can reduce primary cardiovascular events by up to 25% when combined with statin therapy, with additional reductions in nonfatal heart attacks (31%) and strokes (28%). This is a game-changer in heart health! But here’s the catch: 💊 The average market price for Icosapent Ethyl is ₹40–₹50 per capsule. 💊 Required dosage: 4 capsules daily = ₹6,000 per month. 💰 That’s 19% of the average monthly income of an Indian adult (₹32,800 in 2024). For a life-saving preventive medicine, why are Indian patients paying a premium price just to survive? At InMed, we believe that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. We’re working towards affordable healthcare solutions that can bridge this gap. By collaborating with doctors, researchers, and policymakers, we aim to develop cost-effective options that make therapies like Icosapent Ethyl accessible to all. 💡 Your Voice Matters If you’re a doctor, a healthcare expert, or someone passionate about this cause, let’s connect! Together, we can advocate for policies and innovations that prioritize affordability and accessibility without compromising on quality. 💬 What are your thoughts on this? How can we ensure life-saving medicines become affordable in India? Let’s spark a conversation that could save lives. 🌍❤️ #AffordableHealthcare #CardiovascularHealth #Innovation #InMed #DoctorsOfIndia #HealthcareForAll

In today's Digital World, digitisation of health care is the next logical progression
Glad to share that another article from our Global_RECHARGE project has been published in Chronic Respiratory Disease Journal vol. 21. https://lnkd.in/dyJTH462 With this article, we voiced the needs and challenges of 370 people living with Chronic Respiratory Diseases and 200+ healthcare providers involved in their care, regarding Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR). In India, we are aware of a big gap in the requirement and service uptake of PR due to challenges in accessibility, affordability, and the availability of PR. With this piece of work, we contribute to bridging this gap by identifying what the patients want from their PR service and what the healthcare providers can offer. The outcomes from the survey became the foundation for the development of the culturally sensitive on-demand web-based app for PR in the care of #COPD Sundeep Salvi SYMBIOSIS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY Symbiosis Medical College for Women Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre University of Leicester
