Cherokee Nation Entertainment’s flagship casino property Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa recently held its annual toy drive for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign in Claremore, which supports local children who might not have otherwise received toys for the holidays. “At Hard Rock, we value the ability to make great memories that last, and we believe in creating those positive moments even beyond our doors,” said Martin Madewell, general manager of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. “This gift event is extremely special to us each year because it allows our team to celebrate the spirit of giving alongside our guests and bring joy to local families that lasts a lifetime.” Our businesses proudly support initiatives that give back and make a difference in our communities. Through their efforts hosting this year’s toy drive, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa was able to donate a total of 2,200 toys to be given to families in Rogers, Mayes and Craig Counties in time for the holiday season. 🎄✨ Read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/eHvSyMkC

'Tis the season...to complete your tax return. Why not take this opportunity to boost your charitable giving by reclaiming your higher/additional rate relief, considering Gift Aid carry back or asking HMRC to change your PAYE code to take account of your giving? Don't forget that any charitable gift you want to carry back must be made before you file your return! More detail in my Stewardship blog - link in the comments. #philanthropy #donoradvisedfunds

According to a letter to the IRS from Senators Warren and Grassley, "some nonprofit hospitals are benefitting from these tax exemptions while shirking their responsibility to provide charity care and engaging in abusive collections practices that harm their patients and communities." To my business friends and partners, please consider donating to this cause. City Gospel Mission WhizKids will distribute Christmas baskets to 700 at-risk children this year. They would love to include "Louie's Little Legs and The Joy of Christmas" book. Unleash Love is asking for donations to show these children some Louie Love and provide 700 books in time for Christmas. Our Christmas book is filled with mystery and festive cheer. Louie’s little legs take him on an unforgettable journey to understand the true meaning of Christmas. We started a GoFundMe page to share this cause globally. Donations will cover the print cost of this beautifully illustrated hardback book and shipping fees to send the books directly to City Gospel WhizKids. Click Here to Donate:

Save the date...but don't wait! NYICFF's Annual Benefit event takes place on February 10, but you can start fundraising right now. Join us in February for food, drinks, auction items, and a "Not For Kids" short film program.* Join us today for a brighter future for kids through film. All proceeds from the benefit, including your generous donations, support our core programs: the annual Festival, Kid Flicks, our national tour, and FilmEd Field Trips. NYICFF’s programs enable families and classrooms to engage in critical discussions that allow young viewers to better understand themselves and the world around them. We prioritize equitable access to our programs by offering subsidized tickets for families in low-income communities and providing Field Trips to Title I schools free of charge. With your help we can keep it that way. (Schools qualify for Title I status when at least 40% of the student body comes from low-income families.) *a curated collection of funny, irreverent shorts that might not be appropriate for kids, but are too good to keep to ourselves Visit nyicff.org/benefit to get involved.

So many business owners could get behind a project such as this. These developments going up everywhere in Truro, but I have not heard anything about affordable housing in the mix. There are so many of our families, friends and neighbours are homeless with not enough beds. Folks don't need a great big space...only big enough for a bed, small kitchen area and a bathroom with a sink, toilet and upright shower. This would get people out of the cold and off the street for the winter. Have the Town donate some land for a project, donations of materials to build from local businesses, volunteers to come together with their skills. tools and the willingness to help...you never know, you might be helping a friend who is hitting rock bottom. Think about this...it can be done if everyone brings whatever the can to help. Don't have another cold winter watching folks sleeping on benches or behind buildings...the people of Truro are better than that.

The issue of low-quality in-kind donations is a well-known problem in both charity work and disaster response operations. Arizona State University’s Mahyar Eftekhar, an associate professor of supply chain management at the W. P. Carey School of Business, and two associates conducted a field experiment in the Phoenix chapter of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, to help improve in-kind donations this holiday season and beyond. https://lnkd.in/g-zx3wCj
