Growing Adoption of LiDAR drones in mining applications | LiDAR Drone Industry Download PDF Brochure @ https://lnkd.in/grRjMC3 #Mines across the world are under continuous production. The processes require the accurate collection and processing of large amounts of information. Inaccurate measurements in coal or iron mines lead to inefficient operations and may affect the desired output and quality of products. There are four types of mining, namely, underground, placer, in-situ, and open pit. Traditional measurement methods use #GNSS , total station, and other equipment that require surveyors to go on site and perform measurements. These methods are time-consuming and typically not safe. Additionally, the data generated through these methods cannot be visualized globally, thus, restricting digital updates in modern mines. LiDAR #dronetechnology has emerged as an effective solution to overcome the challenges of difficult topography, hazardous conditions, and other mine site issues. LiDAR is cutting-edge technology in the field of surveying and mapping. LiDAR integrated drones enable the measurement of three-dimensional coordinates of objects on the ground, penetrate vegetation, and apply a point cloud filtering method to generate a high-precision digital terrain model. The LiDAR Drone market is projected to grow from USD 147 million in 2022 to USD 508 million in 2027; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 28.1% from 2022 to 2027. The growth of the market is attributed to the growing interest of mining players in adopting LiDAR drones for different applications and adoption of LiDAR drones in #precisionagriculture and #corridormapping applications. The adoption of LiDAR drones by government bodies in different countries for various projects is likely to create high growth opportunities for the market. #Bathymetric LiDAR is preferred over other bathymetry methods, including #sonar owing to considerable accuracy in various applications Short-range LiDAR drones to record for largest market share in 2027 The fastest growth of the LiDAR drone market in Asia Pacific can be attributed to the growing opportunities for LiDAR #drones for #surveying and #mapping operations in #infrastructural development projects, forest management, and #mining activities in the region The LiDAR drone companies such as Velodyne Lidar, Inc.(US), RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems (Austria), Teledyne Optech Inc. (Canada), Phoenix LiDAR Systems (US), Microdrones®(Germany), YellowScan(France), UMS SKELDAR (Switzerland), LiDARUSA(US), SICK AG (Germany), and GeoCue Group (US). #UAV #drone #3dmapping #technews

Types of Accuracy in Drone Data In the rapidly evolving drone industry, precision is paramount, particularly for capturing high-quality data in advanced applications like photogrammetry and mapping. Yet, there's often confusion about the types of precision achievable with drone technology. There are two primary types of drone accuracy essential for high-quality data collection geo-referencing accuracy and measurement accuracy in drone operations. 🚁 Geo-Referencing Accuracy (Absolute Accuracy) 🌍 Commonly known as geo-referencing accuracy, this type refers to the drone's ability to pinpoint its exact location on Earth during data collection. Most drones utilize GPS technology, receiving signals from multiple satellites to determine their position in three-dimensional space with high reliability. However, methods such as using Ground Control Points (GCPs), Real-Time Kinematic (RTK), and Post Processed Kinematic (PPK) can enhance this accuracy further. Measurement Accuracy (Relative Accuracy) 📏 Measurement accuracy concerns the precision of the data itself, critical for applications like 3D modeling and volume estimation. This accuracy depends largely on the Ground Sampling Distance (GSD), which reflects the area each image covers on the ground. Achieving Dual Accuracy 🎯📏 It's possible to attain both geo-referencing and measurement accuracy simultaneously by integrating advanced technologies and adhering to best practices in drone operation. Essential strategies include employing additional equipment like RTK systems and utilizing sophisticated software for data analysis. In conclusion, understanding and applying these two types of accuracy can significantly enhance the quality of data captured by drones, providing invaluable accuracy for complex projects. #drone #uav #photogrammetry #surveying #geomatics For more detailed information: https://lnkd.in/g3nBN2Sf
