We’re pleased to share insights from Dr. Henry Schmidt, MD, Principal Investigator of our recent pediatric asthma study in collaboration with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. This study assessed the performance and usability of the RESP® Biosensor in children with asthma, a condition affecting over 5 million children annually and a leading cause of ED visits. Previously used only with adults, the RESP Biosensor shows significant potential in enhancing pediatric asthma management. Key findings revealed the biosensor's sensitivity in detecting wheezing, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both patients and families. Participants valued its ease of use, expressing optimism for better at-home wheeze detection and access to care. Dr. Schmidt highlights that continuous lung sound monitoring could greatly improve pediatric asthma care by providing clinicians with objective data at home and in the hospital. This technology allows for earlier assessments, paving the way for timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.
