Today is #InternationalWheelchairDay, the perfect day for me to share that on Sunday 21st April I will be wheeling the 2024 London Marathon to support Whizz Kidz. Over 75,000 young people in the UK need to use a wheelchair to be mobile. Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that meets their needs through local services. Whizz Kidz are there for all of them. Whizz Kidz are the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25 years old. They empower young wheelchair users with the equipment, support, and confidence-building experiences they need to take an active role in society. The Whizz Kidz goal is to create a movement for progress towards a more open and accessible world. All donations will go towards Whizz Kidz who will help support young wheelchair users in a number of ways. For example: 🟡 £45 could pay for a young wheelchair user to attend their local Whizz Kidz Club for an hour, reducing social isolation, and providing an opportunity to gain confidence. 🟡 £260 could enable Whizz Kidz to see a young person and their family at a local Mobility Clinic, where Therapists and Engineers will assess their needs and handover the right piece of equipment. 🟡 £1,000 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide an adapted trike for a disabled child. These adapted trikes give children a safe and fun way to exercise. 🟡 £3,700 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide a manual wheelchair for a disabled child, which is comfortable, well-fitting, and lightweight. 🟡 £5,500 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide a powered wheelchair, helping a child to participate fully at school and in social activities and allowing them to keep up with siblings and classmates. If you are able to, donations can be made via https://bit.ly/2024-LM thank you 💛 #InclusionRevolution #MoveALifeForward #LondonMarathon #Fundraising #Wheelchair #BeTheDifferenceGoTheDistance

You can recover from addiction.
Our founder Holly Rose Rose travelled north this week to meet the #team at Steps Together Rainford Hall. Together with #Liverpool lead therapist later attended the #Shine awards, a spectacular #celebration of #recovery and Steps Together staff achievements. The clear sense of #pride and abundant #appreciation towards their staff demonstrates a #strong, #kind work culture which no doubt filters down to each of the #addicts who walk through their doors seeking #support. Thank you Claritee for organising, you know how to throw a decent #party. One of the biggest challenges faced by care-experienced young people is loneliness and isolation. Written in a blog, leaving care can be particularly difficult as young people often lack the support network that many of us take for granted. This can lead to feelings of stress and loneliness. As someone who recently was involved in a scary experience, I couldn't imagine going through it alone. Unfortunately, this is a reality for many care-experienced young people. That's why I'm passionate about raising awareness of this issue and doing what I can to help. At Care to Dance we believe that every young person deserves a community and a place to belong. That's why I'm taking on an ultramarathon within a year of my recovery to raise money and awareness for Care to Dance. Our goal is to create safe spaces for care-experienced young people to dance, connect, and build long-lasting relationships. If you're interested in learning more about my challenge or donating to this important cause, please click the link below. Let's work together to make sure that every young person has the support they need to thrive. https://lnkd.in/eEY_8ZdT #worldcareday #raiseawareness #community #belonging #spinalfracture #recovery #loneliness #socialenterprise #crowdfunding

In the UK, over 50% of consumers don't understand what it means when a business is a co-operative or a mutual, and two-fifths (42%) admit they don't know how being part of one could benefit them and their communities. Co-op's new brand platform, "Owned by You, Right by You," aims to change that. At Rullion, we're excited to support this bold new initiative. By encouraging our staff to become Co-op members, we're not just promoting a fantastic business; we're fostering a sense of ownership and community spirit. For every staff member who joins, we will donate £1 to Altrincham FC Community Sports Ltd, reinforcing our commitment to local community support. Why are we doing this? Embracing Co-op's Vision: Supporting the new brand platform that emphasizes member ownership and community involvement. Building Community Spirit: Helping Co-op bring people together to create a stronger, more connected community. Enhancing Local Impact: Through our donations, we support Altrincham FC Community Sports Ltd, which aids people of all ages with programs addressing dementia, isolation, and physical activity. Together, let's support Co-op's vision and make a positive impact in our community. Make an impact in the community by sponsoring a child at La Casa de Esperanza's Charter School. When you sponsor a child, you are directly impacting a student's education. There are many ways you can sponsor a child, and you don't have to do it alone. You can include your workplace, friends, family, and community groups to sponsor a child together! All funds raised through the Sponsor a Child Campaign go directly to the student and help us cover costs not fully funded through the state, including snacks. If you are ready to take the next step and sponsor a child at La Casa de Esperanza, click the link below or contact Maria Wadina for more information at (262) 832-1542 or mwadina@lacasadeesperanza.org. You can also support this great cause by sharing this post with your network. https://lnkd.in/ggYKS8cj #SupportLocalNonProfits #SponsorAChild #WisconsinNonProfits
