To train up a child... This is our future. Establishing the value and importance of early screening and treatment will be the way moving forward in our next generation
Good vision changes everything for children — it allows them to properly see the board, fully participate and develop skills. Nosipho Zama volunteered at our recent clinic in Cape Town, South Africa and shared how rewarding it is to give the gift of vision, especially to children that are being set up for a path of greater success and confidence. Learn more about why she volunteers in this video. #VolunteerMonth #iVolunteer

Joseph felt like he belonged, cruising on his bike with the other kids in the neighborhood without a care in the world. Bicycles (and helmets and locks!) are one of the many things Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation funds for children and youth in foster care. For more than 40 years, we've been changing their stories, simply by helping them experience moments of joy. CoSA volunteers do the work no one else is willing to do. Communities are dependent on volunteers to ensure everyone is safe and living a healthy lifestyle. Q: Why do you volunteer with CoSA? A: "I am a volunteer with CoSA because I believe that we are all children of a loving God who desires that each of us have, and enjoy, freedom. Because of the stigma that is attached to the core members of CoSA, they need our support to re-enter society as free persons." - CoSA volunteer #CoSA #virtualCoSA #nomorevictims #nooneisdisposable #preventrecidivism #volunteer

What do you think of when you think of the word "community"? When I think of the word community I think of town, neighborhood, residents, a village. When a community begins to support each other great things happen. How can you support your community? * Shop Local- If we want our community to thrive, it starts with doing business with local business owners and less big box stores. * Volunteer- Volunteering in your community is a great way to show you care *Assist in Your Schools- Not everyone is going to have time for things like PTA, but reaching out and asking how you can help and what do they need goes a long way? *Visit the Elderly- There are many elderly in senior care centers who don't have family that visit. Create cards, or take some care packages. It will make their day. *Coach a Youth Sports Team- This is a great way to mentor youth in your community and give back. #midlandneighborsmagazine #midlandga #community #shoplocal #volunteer #pta #seniorcare #youthsports #nichemagazine #neighborhoodpublication #bestversionmedia

This week is National AccessAbility Week, and we’re inviting you to celebrate with us! National AccessAbility Week is an annual event that celebrates Canadians with disabilities. It gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about how essential it is to increase accessibility in our communities. This year’s theme is "Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All.” To us, moving forward together means that we do what we do in the spirit of collaboration. Our awareness-raising work wouldn’t be possible without the support of the wider community, and in turn, we always strive to provide as much value to the community as possible. This National AccessAbility Week, we invite you to get involved in our mission as we strive toward a barrier-free Canada. Here are some of the ways you can take part: 🧡 Volunteer with us. We offer a wide variety of opportunities including community outreach, ramp painting and delivery, graphic design, photography and videography. The time commitment is flexible, and volunteering offers you a great way to connect with a community of people who are passionate about accessibility: https://lnkd.in/ghd7Da5x 🧡 Become a monthly donor. By donating to StopGap monthly, you provide us with a steady, reliable form of funding that allows us to operate smoothly and continue our awareness-raising efforts: https://lnkd.in/gmBpvAKt 🧡 Share StopGap with a local business that could use a ramp! Is there a business in your community that has a single-step entryway? Let them know about our work and invite them to check out our Ramps on Request program. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of the disabled change-makers in our community moving us toward a more accessible future. We see you, and we love you!
