SHLED Lighting up the world: outdoor lighting injects new impetus into urban development. Urban lighting is not only a manifestation of nighttime beautification, but also a symbol of urban culture and vitality. The lighting project presents urban elements such as buildings, bridges, and squares more vividly through modern lighting design, endowing the city with a unique visual style and enhancing people's sense of belonging and pride. In addition, reasonable lighting design enhances nighttime safety, reduces crime rates, and increases the nighttime activity space for citizens. Lighting also has significant economic benefits, attracting tourists, stimulating nighttime consumption, and bringing more business opportunities to the city. Overall, urban lighting is not only related to visual and aesthetic aspects, but also plays a positive role in promoting economic development, citizens' quality of life, cultural dissemination, and other aspects. #Urbanlighting #outdoorlighting #shled #ledfacadelighting #mediafacade #citylighting #buildinglighting #landscapelighting #lightingdesign #FacadeLightingSolution #ledlighting

In today’s cities, public art is often just an accessory—something to look at, but not necessarily to use. I believe we’re missing an opportunity here. What if the beauty in our surroundings could go beyond aesthetics, serving real, functional purposes that elevate daily life? At Livilence, my team and I have been working on projects that embody this idea, turning everyday public spaces into experiences that matter. Our Eco-Shelter Pavilion, for instance, is more than just a pavilion; it’s a space where sustainable materials, design, and community needs intersect to create something beautiful and purposeful. Or consider the Artful Cycle Station, which reimagines a simple bike rack as an art piece—inviting residents to pause and engage with sustainability in a meaningful way. These are visions grounded in a concept I hold close to beauty can and should have a purpose. When we design with this in mind, public spaces aren’t just places to walk by; they become places to live, connect, and engage with. By fusing art and function, we’re not just decorating our cities but building a more inclusive and resilient urban experience. #BeyondAesthetics #UrbanInnovation #SustainableDesign #FunctionalArt #CommunityFirst

🌟 Illuminate. Transform. Engage. 🌟 Artistic lighting is a game-changer, turning ordinary spaces into dynamic environments. As day fades to night, it doesn’t just beautify—it enhances safety, encourages community engagement, and brings vibrancy after dark. Beyond aesthetics, smart lighting is essential for security, especially in urban areas, helping deter crime and boost confidence in public spaces. For real estate developers and municipalities, investing in artistic lighting is a strategic move. It boosts property appeal, attracts tenants, and highlights unique features. Sustainable lighting designs demonstrate a commitment to eco-conscious living, a key draw for today’s consumers. By prioritizing lighting, developers elevate property value, improve occupancy rates, and drive long-term economic growth. #MASSIVartLoves #CreativePlacemaking #ArtisticLighting #UrbanDesign #UrbanPlanning #RealEstateDevelopment #CommunitySafety

Did you know that something as simple as pavement color can transform the way we experience a city? In Madrid’s Plaza Mayor, switching from black to white granite lowers felt temperatures by 4.3°C. That’s not just a cooler plaza - it’s a huge difference for cities facing rising heat. This is the power of design. Every surface, every material, every choice shapes how we live, move, and thrive in urban spaces. The video I’m sharing shows how ENVI-met’s simulations let us see - and act on - the science of microclimates. From innovative materials to long-term strategies, it’s about rethinking what’s possible for our cities. Urban heat is a global challenge. But it’s also a design opportunity. What choices can we make today to ensure our cities are resilient, comfortable, and livable tomorrow? Watch the video and let’s start the conversation. #UrbanDesign #ClimateAdaptation #FutureCities

Public Spaces Can Reflect Our Collective Identity Designing public spaces is exciting, as they revolve around making environments that everyone can feel a part of. In today's pluralistic populations, public spaces have to be redesigned in a way that the identities, histories, and cultures of the people are reflected through these areas of society. Other cities, like Berlin and Cape Town, celebrate their theme of diversity by using public art, open spaces, and accessible designs to illustrate the divergent communities they serve. Public spaces could be viewed as a cultural melting pots where divergent individuals come together. The fight to create a space that speaks to everyone is through inclusive signage, culturally relevant architecture, and flexible space for differing activities. From the design perspective, it would mean making sure public spaces become places of all-inclusive environments where all the identities are respected and valued. For me, it has to do with aesthetics and inclusion, and how it makes design welcoming to everybody in all walks of life, regardless of background, culture. #PublicSpaceDesign #InclusiveDesign #CulturalIdentity #UrbanDesign #DiversityInDesign #CommunitySpaces #DesignForAll #CollaborativeDesign #UrbanInclusion #DesignThatMatters #SustainableCities #CreativeSpaces #ArchitecturalDesign

Can public spaces be way more colorful? At 100architects, we believe they can—and they should. Earlier this year, in 2024, our Shanghai studio was the creative hub for designing one of our most vibrant metropolitan interventions: a bold and colorful public space in Astana, Kazakhstan. This project showcases how bold colors can reshape urban environments, capturing attention, sparking curiosity, and fostering engagement. By transforming ordinary spaces into dynamic and playful experiences, we create urban landscapes that resonate with energy and identity. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the design process that brings these concepts to life, blending creativity, experimentation, and bold design choices. #UrbanActivation #PublicSpaces #UrbanDesign #StreetArchitecture #EntertainmentHub #ColorfulDesign #MetropolitanIntervention #DesignProcess #100architects
