Relay is among the ‘first line of defense’ for an electrical substation. if is there any abnormality such as overcurrent or earth fault in the system, relay will be the first to detect the slightest changes in the current flow & will send signals to switchgear circuit breaker for tripping. Tripping the circuit is crucial in order to avoid any arcing/flashover or tripping the upstream substation. This is why TNB is focusing & emphasizing more on relay testing during pre-commissioning test. Pic: relay test during PIAT session at SSU 33kV South Quay Square, Selangor. #ttda

🌍 Exciting News! 🌍 Am glad to share that myself and Sandiso Bhuda Pr. Eng. Bhuda, we will be heading to Blumenau Brazil to attend 132/400 kV 500MVA transformer Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)on behalf of Proconics. The transformer is manufactured by WEG. This vital equipment is for our Sun Central project, which is critical in strengthening the Eskom transmission grid. ⚡ For those unfamiliar with engineering terms, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is a crucial process where the transformer is tested to ensure it meets all the technical specifications and quality standards before being shipped to its final destination. This step helps prevent any issues that could arise during installation and operation, ensuring reliability and safety. The installation of this 500MVA transformer will significantly increase the capacity of the transmission network, improving the stability and reliability of the power supply. This transformer alone can support the supply of power to thousands of homes, which can lead to a reduction in load shedding by up to 10% in affected areas. This is a major step toward providing a more consistent power supply to South Africans and reducing the disruptions caused by power outages. 🔋💡 #Proconics #SunCentral #TransformerTesting #PoweringSA #Eskom #LoadSheddingReduction #RenewableEnergy #Brazil #WEG #EnergyTransition

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting subject matter experts from Dynamic Ratings at our PQE Power System Sdn Bhd office. We were thrilled to learn more about the importance of condition-based monitoring in the utility industry. During the visit, CBM expert Mr. David Jellett shared some insightful thoughts on the topic. He emphasized the significance of having visibility into critical loads and sites powered by only one or two transformers without redundancy. In such scenarios, condition-based monitoring plays a crucial role in detecting issues before they escalate into major problems. Dynamic Ratings is a leading provider of condition monitoring products and services for the utility industry. Their real-time data solutions offer better awareness of high voltage electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear. By implementing condition-based monitoring, utilities can experience a range of benefits, such as: - Increased workplace safety - Reduced unexpected failures - Minimized unplanned outages - Enhanced visibility of asset condition - Improved load and overall safety - Nursing aged or critical assets PQE Power System Sdn Bhd is proud to be the local representative of Dynamic Ratings in Malaysia, providing cutting-edge condition monitoring products and services to the utility industry. #dynamicratings David Jellett #conditionbasedmonitoring #utilityindustry #safetyfirst #assetmanagement PQE Power System Sdn Bhd #innovation #electricalengineering #transformation #expertise #knowledgeexchange B100 Transformer Temperature and Hydrogen Monitoring System https://lnkd.in/eFdi_jDh

The Main Switching Substation (MSS) by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is a critical infrastructure component in Malaysia's electrical grid. It plays a vital role in managing the distribution and switching of electrical power. This substation is responsible for controlling the flow of electricity from high-voltage transmission lines to lower-voltage distribution networks, ensuring reliable power supply across various regions. MSS facilities typically include equipment like circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear to handle the electrical load and maintain system stability. Space limitation in certain area have shown to engineering option to adapt the changes and to accommodate the require demand by the end user. The source shall be independent and not to be depend to other user in order to ensure reliability and maintability of the systems and assure as it intent design and requirements. #engineering #tnb #mss #transports #railroad Source: TNB's PMU at Setapak ✅💯
