It's the season.....To moan/laugh/criticise/pateonise the agents who promote boxing day campaigns..... I want to set the record straight, for those who are completely missing the point of this launch. 1) Sellers want to get ahead of the uplift in new properties that come to market in January. 2) Stock levels drop, as proven in the data. so launching when there's a drop in stock levels makes total sense. 3) No agent is open boxing day, no agent claims to be open boxing day. Launching the properties on boxing day is for the agents that open between Christmas and New year to deal with any enquiries. The general public aren't idiots and will know agents are shut. 4) This is also a good day to re-launch properties that have been on the market, unsold and a reduction is needed to help stimulate further interest 6) Most of all, according to the portal's stats, boxing day receives a huge uplift in visits. Do agents force this on people? No. Do we recommend it? Yes, If it suits the client. No doubt there's going to be negative comments, and I'm all for healthy debate. I just don't understand the negativity and patronising comments I've been seeing on here about this event.

Boxing Day sales are in full force still, and this is my friendly reminder to all of you to ask yourself, "do I NEED to buy this, or is it just on sale?" In November, I shared a blog that I wrote on the questions you should ask yourself before you buy something during Black Friday, and I think the thoughts still ring true for Boxing Day. What is the Boxing Day surge, and why should sellers act now to capitalise on it? Here’s what you need to know. If you’re considering selling your home, a big day for showcasing your property to potential buyers is nearly upon us. Boxing Day is often thought of as a day for eating Turkey leftovers, watching old films or visiting relatives (including some we’d perhaps rather not). But there’s something else Boxing Day is quickly becoming known for: it’s one of the biggest – if not THE biggest – days for viewing homes for sale online. According to Rightmove, in December last year: “Visits to Rightmove nearly doubled between Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The level of demand from potential homebuyers, measured by the number of enquiries sent to estate agents about homes for sale, jumped too and more than tripled (+273%) from Christmas Day to Boxing Day. There were also 17% more buyer enquiries on Boxing Day than the year before.”* Some Boxing Day browsers are killing time over the holidays, but many others will be serious buyers who may want to view – or even buy – your home. If you think about it, that makes a lot of sense. Many people take stock of their lives over the Christmas break and make big decisions about how and where they want to live. Boxing Day is an excellent time to start looking so that you can move in the best part of the year – the spring. It also means that if you’re considering selling, now is a perfect time to set the wheels in motion. Act now, and your house can be right in front of thousands and thousands of homebuyers come the Boxing Day browsing boom. The even better thing about acting now is this: Not only will lots of buyers find your house for sale on Boxing Day, but you’ll also be able to start looking for your own perfect new home. It’s still not too late to get your property listed and catch the big Boxing Day browsing boom. But you need to act now. Contact us today for a complimentary, no-obligation valuation and marketing advice. Would someone you know benefit from reading this article? Why not share it with them? * Source: Record number of sellers come to market on Boxing Day
