🌧️ Maiduguri Flood: A Setback to Recovery For over a decade, Borno State, Nigeria has been gripped by conflict, with recent progress offering hope for peace. The closure of camps and relocation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) signaled a path forward. But on 10th September 2024, devastating floods hit Maiduguri, affecting over 230,000 people in a single day, reversing much of the hard-won progress. As a humanitarian worker, I fear the ripple effects: disease outbreaks, protection issues, GBV, malnutrition, and deaths. Now more than ever, immediate action is needed to prevent further disaster. #HumanitarianResponse #MaiduguriFloods #Nigeria #CrisisResponse #BornoState #HumanitarianAid
So heartbreaking.
