Creative / Writer Behind The Dieline's Shelf Life Newsletter

The latest food-based #trend I'm noticing? Pistachios. They're everywhere, but this is just the beginning. In yesterday's Shelf Life #newsletter, I took a deep dive into the history of the nut (did you know they used to be dyed red?), but also shared some predictions about what the future might hold: beyond red pistachios making a comeback (I hope!), we might see another pistachio dukkah brand pop-up, especially as more and more condiments for sprinkling become popular. A pistachio salsa isn’t out of the question, which begs me to wonder why no modern salsa brands are doing innovative things or timely offerings. I’d be shocked if Ithaca Hummus doesn’t release a pistachio-flavored hummus, and I’msurprised they haven’t already, as they often release flavors based on trends (everything bagel, dill pickle, etc.). I also predict a pasta sauce brand (think SAUZ) will (or should) release a pistachio pesto. Super trend Chloe Gordon and great post! Besides healthy and having a great taste, pistachio can be used in hundreds of products! Many brands offering pistachio based butter, creamer, pesto, spread...among many more! For me always Sicilian pistachio 🇮🇹, the very best! Kudos! 👏🏻

We are living through a pistachio renaissance 👨🍳🤌

Chloe, your insightful take on pistachio trends really makes me reconsider how trends change the flavor landscape! The history you shared adds depth to this growing fascination. It's fascinating to witness how creativity can turn such a humble nut into a gourmet innovation. Looking forward to seeing these predictions come to life in culinary aisles and packages.

Love this trend. We've been experimenting with a pistachio ice cream flavor at Natty and it's next-level 👀

I recently saw man dye his cabinets a pistachio color. He didn’t call it green- he specified pistachio. Also, I finally tried the viral pistachio chocolate bar and it was all I ever wanted. 💚

Pistachios are so good!, one of the few flavours that taste great sweet or savoury 🤤 They deserve a renewed design trend just for them 🙌

We are seeing the same trend in alt milks / creamers ! Highly recommend Elmhurst® 1925 pistachio crème oat creamer, pistachio barista blend, and pistachio latte.
