The research suggests that this generation is eager to contribute their skills and ideas to causes they care about, with a focus on values-driven work and social impact. I've signed the open letter to the chancellor together with ACEVO to raise the issue on the increase in National Insurance which could cripple some already struggling charities. We are all juggling the triple threat of increased demand, climbing costs and falling funding, not able to take much more! In total, our sector employs almost 1 million people. NCVO’s initial estimates have found that the proposed increases of NI will cost charities £1.4bn a year. By adding your name to that letter, you’ll help make it clear to the chancellor just how important this issue is for charities across the country! The more names, the more people will listen. https://lnkd.in/e5b5j65U

🚨 Important for everyone supporting the charity sector in Doncaster and beyond 🚨 The proposed National Insurance increase will place a huge burden on charities, impacting essential services right here in Doncaster and across the UK. Many of us are already stretched, providing critical support to our communities, and these additional costs could mean reduced services or job cuts. The NCVO has published an open letter to the Chancellor, urging a rethink on this decision to protect our sector’s capacity and impact. Please take a moment to read and add your signature—we need all the support we can get to ensure that Doncaster’s charities can continue to serve those who rely on us. 🔗 Read & Sign: NCVO Open Letter to the Chancellor https://lnkd.in/g6W7XmBS #CharitySupport #DoncasterCharities #ProtectOurSector #MakeADifference

NCVO and ACEVO have today called for urgent action by the Treasury to avoid an additional financial burden on the charity sector following the Chancellor’s announcement of plans to increase employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) in this week’s budget. NCVO estimates that this measure could cost the charity sector – which employs almost a million people – an additional £1.4bn per year. It also says that charities of all sizes will feel the impact of the increase, and that because of already difficult operating conditions will have less flexibility than ever to absorb these increasing costs. ACEVO and NCVO have written an open letter to the Chancellor that outlines the potential impacts, and the risk that not addressing this could include, and are inviting charities and voluntary organisations to co-sign it here: https://lnkd.in/e2DkitQa. #EmployerNICs #CharitySector

If you’re a charity CEO or Trustee please sign this letter! I’m backing this critical call from NCVO and ACEVO to urge the Chancellor to recognise the massive pressure charities are under right now. With rising costs and increased National Insurance Contributions (NICs) hitting us hard, many of us are struggling to keep up with growing community needs. Charities employ almost 1 million people and deliver nearly £17bn of essential public services each year. We don’t just fill the gaps; we’re out there day after day supporting people and communities when they need it most. But with an extra £1.4bn NICs bill, the reality is, many charities might not be able to absorb these costs without cutting back—something that’ll hurt the very people we’re here to support. The government has rightly offered NICs support to public sector organisations. Now we’re asking for the same. If the voluntary sector is truly a partner in building stronger communities, it’s time we’re given the backing to keep doing what we do best. Thank you, Jane Ide OBE HonDUniv OBE HonDUniv from ACEVO and Sarah Elliott from NCVO for stepping up and leading on this crucial piece of work. Take 5 mins if you can to report and share this, we must rally our fellow charity CEOs and trustees to back this letter.

💼 Ahead of tomorrow’s #AutumnBudget, charities have requested an exemption from the anticipated #NationalInsurance increase for employers, due to concerns about added financial strain. Many organisations warn that this change could impact essential services, particularly for smaller charities already managing increased demand and rising costs. This is deeply alarming - The impact of the NIC rise on charities is estimated at £1.4bn annually. This comes at a time when charities are already stretched to their limits, grappling with escalating demands for their services while battling declining donations and rising operational costs. Finding money to cover NIC increases will mean reducing the spending on services. Without urgent action, the very survival of many charities will hang in the balance. Who knows when you will need the support of a charity but more than likely you will. Approximately 90% of UK households will use the services of a charity at some point in their lives. Let's hope they still exist when you need them. NCVO and ACEVO, co-signed by 7,361 charities and voluntary organisations, have issued a joint letter to the chancellor outlining their concerns for the sector.
