"𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝐩 𝐨𝐫 𝟑𝐩 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬." 📊 90% of pharmacy income is from dispensing, but the future is in services. How do you bridge this gap? This is how Richard Brown, Chief Superintendent Pharmacist at Chippenham Pharmacy has done it. Many contractors are keen to expand their service offerings. But there's a catch: the daily grind of prescribing, dispensing, and business management leaves little room for maximizing your staff’s skills or service income. Richard's strategy? Rethink roles and embrace technology: "𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐢𝐱. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝." 🤔 But how do you shift focus when dispensing still pays the bills? Richard's answer: Use tech to free up time. "𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲." That’s why Richard chatted to Dawn, his Cambrian Alliance Business Manager to help create a streamlined ordering function. His team now use the e-CASS ordering platform for their ordering. "The team tell me they can’t find products cheaper by hunting on individual wholesaler websites. I trust e-CASS to find us the cheapest prices - and then I challenge my team to go out and deliver services." The result? A team focused on value-added services, not bogged down in manual searching and ordering.

In every pharmacy, the key to success is optimising the workflow—ensuring prescriptions are clinically checked for safety, dispensed accurately and swiftly, and handed out or dispatched to patients in the shortest time possible. Patients often gauge a pharmacy's performance based on the supply process, making the pharmacy workflow and staff skill mix crucial for efficiency and customer satisfaction. TITAN PMR Ltd introduces a groundbreaking paperless workflow. Pharmacists conduct the upfront clinical check of the prescription image for safety. Once verified, the pharmacist's expertise is freed up for more profitable services. The picking, labelling, packing, and handout/dispatch can be efficiently handled by other qualified staff, optimising the entire process. Barcode validation is integrated at every stage for dispensing accuracy—from product picking to labelling instructions and packaging. This ensures precision in dispensing and correct labelling, packaging, and dispatch. By breaking down the dispensing process, pharmacies can achieve safety, accuracy, and efficiency while cost-effectively leveraging staff skills. Peter Thnoia, Medical Director at PillTime, highlights the added advantages, emphasising how TITAN PMR simplifies staff shortages and training challenges by quickly onboarding staff with specific skills for targeted tasks. Take the guess work out of service conversations with your customers with Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Services. When the two applications are used in tandem, you have the option to unlock Hypertension Service reminders at your pharmacy. This means that once goods have been dispensed to your customer, if they’re eligible for a blood pressure check under the Hypertension Service, your pharmacists will receive a notification. If your patient agrees to the service, once their blood pressure is checked, an extra £15 is automatically claimed from the NHS. For pharmacies like Weldricks, this has minimised administration, as the pharmacist doesn’t need to spend time reviewing a patient's dispensary history, and has maximised service revenue. The American Pharmacists Association and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations released the eighth installment of their Pharmacy Workplace and Well-Being Reporting trends series. In 2023, pharmacy employees in multiple care settings reported more than 2,500 issues, with 94% indicating them as recurring problems. Twenty-seven medication errors leading to patient harm were anonymously reported in the well-being survey. Here are the 10 most reported issues from pharmacy workers in 2023: 1. Staffing/scheduling (491 reports) 2. Volume/workload expectation mismatched to available staffing and shift hours (485) 3. Working conditions (420) 4. Pharmacy metrics (399) 5. Training or education (165) 6. Medication error — near miss with no patient harm (142) 7. Professional judgment restricted or supported when caring for a patient (139) 8. Personal safety concerns (123) 9. Technology/automation (80) 10. Insurance or billing issues (80) "It is troubling that after more than three years since the launch of PWWR, the submitted experiences continue to focus on working conditions, staffing, patient aggressiveness and lack of meaningful communication between pharmacy personnel and management," Brigid Groves, PharmD, vice president of professional affairs at APhA, said in a news release. #pharmacy owners..get in touch with Medscript. we can help with such issues

A massive thank you to Vimal Mistry for leaving us this incredible 5-star review Seeing the real impact that our PMR system TITAN PMR Ltd is having on the day-to-day lives of our customers is truly rewarding. ✅ Improved Safety ✅ Enhanced Efficiencies ✅ Paperless Operations ✅ Freedom for Pharmacists ✅ Stress-Free Dispensary Most importantly, we're freeing up valuable time for pharmacists to support their communities with NHS and private services. Knowing that we’re making a difference keeps us motivated to continue improving and innovating. Thanks again Vimal for your kind words and support. “I've been using Titan PMR for over three years now, and it has truly transformed our pharmacy operations. The system has significantly freed up our pharmacist's time, allowing them to focus on essential services, stock management, and other crucial business tasks. It's astonishing that many pharmacies still rely on manual checks for dispensing accuracy. Titan PMR completely changes the game, bringing the dispensing process into the 21st century. Since adopting Titan, we haven't experienced a single error, which speaks volumes about its accuracy and reliability. The end-of-month claiming process, which used to be a time-consuming chore, now takes just 10-15 minutes. Everything is automated and accurate, eliminating the need for tedious NHS admin work. I can't imagine going back to the old, outdated dispensing systems—they're simply too time-consuming and prone to errors. The workflow is intuitive and easy to manage, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in customer service over the past year. The team at Titan PMR has been incredibly responsive to feedback, making continuous improvements that really make a difference. One of the best aspects is the ownership of hardware. Unlike traditional systems like Cegedim, EMIS, or Positive Solutions, which charge exorbitant fees for computer terminals, with Titan PMR, you purchase your own hardware. This flexibility means you can even opt for second-hand equipment if budget is a concern, and Titan PMR will take care of the rest. Switching to Titan PMR may require some adjustments, but it's well worth it. Our staff love it, and it has undoubtedly improved our overall efficiency and accuracy. The UPW: A tool that is helping patients engage with their pharmacy and access healthcare in new ways. A tool that is changing the way pharmacies operate, save time, and drive more revenue. #pharmacy #upw
There are many USPs for the Ultimate Pharmacy Website (UPW). But the biggest one? Face-to-face training delivered by pharmacists. I cover the North. Mitesh Shah covers the South. Yesterday, we both visited Eltham Pharmacy in London. Our latest client to go live with the UPW. Josh and his team received a comprehensive, 2-hour training session. All hands on and digitally recorded. We used to do this exclusively online. But as the system evolved, so has the training. It’s now so crucial for growth that we’ve moved to in-person sessions. The impact? Phenomenal. It lets us embed the system better into each pharmacy's unique setup. Optimising logistics for a smooth operation. Yesterday, we covered: - The website system, which went live last week - Setting up users: pharmacist prescribers, admins, and dispensers - Assigning terminals for the bookings dashboard and online orders - User journeys for patients, prescribers, and pharmacists - Managing POM, P-line, GSL orders, and Royal Mail - Understanding the full prescribing suite - Editing products, conditions, and risk assessments - Handling in-clinic bookings and settings - Managing NHS and private prescription orders - Website content editing - Marketing strategies - Ongoing support It’s a lot to take in, and some features are brand new to them. But the team were buzzing with excitement. They’re ready to adapt. Special shoutout to Merlin, the dispenser, who we designated the pharmacy TikTok and digital champion! 🎉 Huge thanks to Josh and the team for having us. It’s a real pleasure to be part of your digital transformation. The UPW isn’t just a pharmacy website. It’s a whole new way of working - designed to take your growth to the next level. 🚀 Keen on business transformation?
