Is VC really the route for your business? Most businesses are not venture backable, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a successful business. Before you go down the VC path, pause and think about your business and if venture funding is right for you. You could save yourself a lot of time, energy, and heartache if you ask this question before you go down that road. #vc #venturecapital #alternativefunding #smallbusiness

Have you ever thought about how your business structure could be your secret weapon? Let me introduce you to the "goose and eggs" strategy. Imagine a holding company as your golden goose, nurturing a flock of subsidiaries – your eggs – each tailored to diverse business ventures. This setup allows you to customize capital structures and ownership dynamics based on the unique needs of each subsidiary. In tech, you might lure in venture capitalists, while your services venture could attract equity partners. It’s all about flexibility and maximizing opportunity, just like building a diverse portfolio. What would your mix look like? Who's managing success of your portfolio❓ Last season I talked to a lot of VC funds in the region asking one and the same question: “Who is responsible for exits? Do you have an exit manager?” I received a variety of answers starting from “we don’t support our founders, we’re focused on just 2 things: raising from LPs, building a strong funnel of startups for a review on IC, our management fees can barely cover these two processes”. to “Founders responsible for the exit strategy and moreover, sometimes founders’s strategy conflicts with investors strategy: founders don’t want to sell company, investors don’t want to stuck in the company’s capable forever, they need to return cash to their LPs” I want to talk to more second+ time GPs and see how I can add value to the portfolio, I know how we can increase your IRR and bring more liquidity to your LPs.

Corporate venture building and venture equity are both growth strategies but what’s the difference?👇 I’m increasingly using the term venture equity when talking about new business opportunities for corporates. While venture building focuses on exploring, launching, and scaling business opportunities from scratch, venture equity combines it with a private-equity-type approach to boosting businesses’ value through financial management and operational improvements. Venture equity involves acquiring full ownership of companies showing initial traction and injecting resources and operational support to fine-tune the value proposition and rapidly scaling. Is venture equity a shortcut for venture building, and can it reduce risk?💡 #CorporateVentureBuilding #VentureEquity #InnovationStrategies
