***PLEASE READ & SHARE*** Chris & Phil's Tough 🏔Trek To Triumph Over Tumours 🧠 We are cousins Chris and Phil, celebrating a turn of decade with our first ever, very challenging 10-day long distance multi-day 200km mountain trek around the Massif des Ecrins in the French Alps. with a grueling average of 1,200m of up and down every day. A total of 12,000m (40,000ft). Everest is 29,000ft as a comparison. Imagine climbing Ben Nevis every day with your rucksack - except it's harder, because every day, we're also going 20km - 8km further. When are we going? 1st Sept Which charities are we helping? We are raising money to help kids and adults fight horrific brain tumours. The funds we raise will go 50%/50% to The Brain Tumour Charity and brainstrust Why? Chris' father-in-law John Lee died of a brain tumour nearly 10 years ago. He's missed every day by family and friends. Also, a courageous boy Chris knows, Kaiden (Kaiden’s Army) is friends with Ravi of Ravi's Dream - both are fighting their tumours. Both boys were in a choir for Ravi's Dream on Britains got talent. We're doing our fundraiser towards his total to continue to bring awareness and hopefully help all those suffering tumours now and help find more effective cures in the near future. Are we training? Yes, yes, yes! Both of us are hitting the hills as much as possible to condition our hearts, minds and legs. But we don't live near huge mountains. So instead we're doing a mix of 20mile hikes with 600m of up/down and gym work (HIIT and incline treadmill). But we know it's going to hurt and the most important thing is not getting injuries to our feet/ankles/knees. How can you help? Please consider donating towards these 2 great charities by clicking below, or share far and wide! #braintumourawareness #braintumour #bgt #goldenbuzzer #bettertobesafethansorry Donate: https://lnkd.in/dSJSyGxx

Sharing in support (of En Rui Foo) for The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride who support prostate cancer and men's mental health. Funds raised by the Distinguished Gentlefolk support their charity partner, Movember. If you have 2 mins in your day, support En Rui Foo here --> https://lnkd.in/gDis8rJY
📢 This Sunday 29 September, as part of The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride I’ll be raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health alongside car enthusiasts / dapper gentlefolk around the world. Yes, it's literally a fundraising drive! Those who know me will remember how much I love second-hand fashion (#circulareconomy) and cruising in my classic cars (#righttorepair). In true En Rui style, I’ll be wearing my second-hand driving gloves and getting behind the wheel of my beloved classic car this Sunday to fundraise. Before the dapper day, I hope to meet my humble target of $500 to support the cause. With men's chances of developing prostate cancer later in life increasing, and one man dying every minute by suicide, I’d be grateful if you can donate what you can to help – remember, donations are tax deductible in Australia! Childhood cancer is more than just doctor’s appointments, ports, surgeries and radiation. It’s traveling hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles to receive the best treatment. It’s doing everything you can to make your child smile on the tougher days – even when you find it difficult to smile yourself. It’s hospital bills, traveling expenses, meal expenses, and more. In December, instead of sending Christmas cards, I am going to run the equivalent of 3 (yes three!!!!) marathons, to hopefully raise a penny or two for three charities that mean something to me because of things that have happened to friends over the last 12 months. So for those that need, that will be running 78.6 miles over the next 31 days, or around 2.54 miles a day. For those on metric, it’s 126.5 kilometres over the next 31 days or around 4.08 kilometres a day. I am going to do it in miles as there are fewer of them I think. If you are thinking of sending anyone, including me, a Christmas card, please think about making a donation to one of these (or a charity the means something to you) instead. A stamp is £1.65, plus the cost of the card, that’s just a £2.00 donation instead The charities I have chosen are Victoria’s Promise, Cruse Bereavement Support and Pancreatic Cancer UK Victoria’s Promise is a charity here dedicated to support young women through cancer and beyond. If you want to donate to them, please click here https://lnkd.in/eAGrdZu8 Pancreatic Cancer UK strive to go above and beyond for everyone affected, increasing research, support and making noise about this ruthless disease. If you want to donate to them, please click here https://lnkd.in/eTjdgAWP Cruse Bereavement Support are there to help people through what can be the most painful time in their life. If you want to donate to them, please click here https://lnkd.in/exPqXek2

Running to Save Lives On September 21st, I'll be running the Red Feather Trail Jamboree 50K, my third ultramarathon since becoming a double donor (kidney & 60% of my liver). I share to inspire others, as one can be a donor and continue to live a healthy, active lifestyle! The Problem: Every day, 16 people lose their lives while waiting for an organ that could come from a living donor. Even if every American registers as a deceased organ and tissue donor, there would still be a drastic shortage of organs available for transplantation. My Reaction: After learning about the problem in 2010, I felt compelled to act. I spent hours learning about living donation. While I didn't have a family member or friend directly in need, I learned that you can make a non-directed donation - meaning a transplant center can use your gift for the best match. In my case, my kidney donation turned into a donation chain, as 6 additional kidney transplants were possible. About 9 years later, I learned that a living donor can donate twice - becoming a double donor. So after a lot research, contacting multiple transplant centers, testing in two different states, I donated 60% of my liver in 2020 - despite COVID lockdowns and disruptions! Your Opportunity: Now that you are aware of the problem, you have several opportunities: 1. Give. Your financial gift saves lives. American Transplant Foundation doesn’t receive any government or corporate funds and relies on financial contributions to provide services to living donors, transplant recipients, and their loved ones. 2. Consider living donor. That's a big ask, but I promise that it is possible to live a healthy, active life after donation (even after two!). In fact, it was only after becoming a donor (and in my 40s) when I began to enjoy jogging and trail running. The Red Feather Trail 50K will be my 14th running event since becoming a donor, and my 3rd ultramarathon since becoming a double donor! 3. Spread the word. I humbly ask you share this fundraiser with your personal and professional networks. Thank you, and God Bless! Our #Dominicstrong team is doing our big 25-hour Extra Life (Children's Miracle Network Hospitals) game day in support of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 2. We’re playing games of all kinds (board, video, outdoor, mobile). It’s the least we can do to support kids in hospital who are enduring their own marathons, often stuck in a room battling critical illness or injury. For every minimum $10 donation, we roll two dice. One to decide who’s affected, and the second to determine what challenge they have to do. We’re talking everything from spicy sauces to wacky challenges, even dying my goatee. Still reading? Well, if you’d like to help out, here’s my page: https://lnkd.in/gMjbXb2R - you’ll get a tax receipt for your donation too! We’ve raised more than $350,000 since my son was diagnosed with leukemia in 2013. We do it a little bit at a time. Little things add up to big things if you stay focused.
