Today's Spotlight revisits the groundbreaking work between Kueppers Solutions GmbH and the DAP in developing a new mixing unit for industrial high-performance gas burners. Additive Manufacturing enabled us to create a Nature-Inspired Design for this cutting-edge mixing unit, mimicing organic growth patterns. The result is a much more efficient combustion process that's better for the environment and saves on fuel costs. Here's why it still matters: ➡The mixing unit significantly reduces nitrogen oxide emissions to 30 mg per standard cubic meter of exhaust gas, far below the current limit of 350 mg. ➡ It eliminates the need for secondary measures such as urea injection used in the automotive industry, enhancing overall efficiency. ➡ The unit reduces fuel consumption by up to 6%, lowering both energy usage and CO2 emissions. Companies today are aggressively exploring and implementing energy savings programs within their manufacturing facilities, mainly due to the continued rate increases besieging manufacturing entities. Current powder and water/solvent-based paint operations utilize expensive gas, IR ovens and induction heating, whose operating costs have skyrocketed over the past several years. In addition, some high VOC coatings require RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers) to combust known VOC’s / exhaust fumes, adding to more costly energy expenditures.
