One step closer to making the US grid more secure and better equipped to handle the varied energy needs of the future.
Today is a proud day for Siemens Energy! We hosted U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm at our grid technology facility in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she announced $2B in clean energy tax credits that were awarded to dozens of companies as part of section 48C of the Inflation Reduction Act. Siemens Energy was among the recipients, receiving incentives to help address the nation’s power transformer shortage by building our first large power transformer manufacturing facility right here in the United States. We’ll also be creating another 475 direct operating jobs at our Charlotte facility, as well as 285 construction jobs. Thank you, Secretary Granholm, for joining us today. Your partnership from the federal government is fostering an advantageous atmosphere for investing in America – it’s helping us strengthen the U.S. domestic clean energy supply chain, drive the energy transition, and create valuable jobs in our communities. Thank you, Governor Roy Cooper, for facilitating the maximum state incentives for this project, as announced in February. This development positions North Carolina as the leading state for foreign direct investment! Speaking of valuable jobs, we also announced at the event that we’re extending job offers to recent graduates of our internship program in Selma, North Carolina, to help us build this exciting energy future. I also want to thank all of our #teampurple colleagues who made this milestone day happen, and a special thanks to Sanya King, who did an excellent job introducing Secretary Granholm. So much is happening with the Energy Transition, and this is a testament to it. We know that when the U.S., innovates, the entire world follows. We are proud of this and proud to be part of this important step. We are energizing the U.S.! #EnergyTransition #jobs #IRA
