What are some of the potential dangers of filing an application with USCIS without an attorney? I recently did a consultation with someone who filed an NIW petition by themselves. When I asked why the client filed the NIW without an attorney, the client replied that it was to save money. In response to the NIW, USCIS issued an RFE, finding that the client had not met *any* of the requirements. Now the client is looking to hire an attorney to respond to the RFE. Is it worth filing a case that triggers an RFE or NOID and thus lowers the chances of your case being approved, or filing it the right way with the benefit of guidance of experienced immigration counsel? #NIW #greencard #immigration

Last week we mounted a coordinated nationwide blitz with @UKHomeOffice Immigration Enforcement to disrupt suspected criminal activity in the private security industry. Our investigators targeted 11 locations across England after our intelligence team learned of allegations of serious criminal activity including: ▶️ SIA licence fraud ▶️ Labour exploitation ▶️ Organised immigration crime ▶️ Money laundering Our message is clear. There is no place for criminality within the UK private security industry and we will take action to disrupt criminal operations and bring offenders to justice. Where we get credible intelligence of illegal activity, we have the will and capability to act decisively and take robust action. This operation is part of wider work under Operation Empower to tackle labour exploitation within the private security industry. Now that the USCIS has increased most of its filing fees for immigration petitions and applications, are you curious to see whether we will see an improvement in processing times? We are. We do have to commend the USCIS for improving the process times for N-400 cases already; it was reported that the median processing time is now 6.1 (down from 10.5 months). But that was before the increase in fees. The USCIS rationale for increasing filing fees was to address operational and financial challenges, one of them being the lengthening processing times. We are hopeful as we are already seeing much faster processing times when cases are filed online such as Form I-90, N-400 and others. Decreasing processing times will decrease the uncertainty of cases and the anxiety that goes along with it. #ThursdayThoughts #ImmigrationLaw #USCIS
