The Transition to Adulthood (T2A) team, in collaboration with Child Safety, recently hosted an incredible Family Fun Day for Next Step Plus (NSP) participants, and it was a resounding success with a great turnout. From laser tag and bowling to arcade games and prizes, attendees had a blast. Fun aside, the day was also packed with valuable resources to help young people on their journey to independence. 🤝 A big thankyou to our partners - Services Australia, TAFE Queensland and Queensland Transport, for providing insights into key areas like obtaining a driver’s licence, exploring post-school study options, and navigating government services. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re proud to see such strong engagement. Together, we’re making a difference in the lives of young people as they transition to adulthood.

We know that Camp Lighthouse is over, but those of us involved with this amazing experience are still buzzing over it. We truly couldn't pull it off without partners, sponsors, and friends like Region 7 Education Service Center. Our partnership and shared mission to serve students with visual impairments has grown year over year, ultimately resulting in Camp Lighthouse. We are so grateful for the input and hours of time given to help make our camp a success! Check out this blog, so perfectly written by Lannette Burlingame, Special Education Specialist in the area of Visual Impairment at Region 7 ESC, that explains in more detail the importance of opportunities like Camp Lighthouse. (and keep an eye out this week for our official camp video!)

I am happy that I am successful in completing the required hours and following the College, Daycare, and Ministry policies. I saw how practicing made me better at understanding children's behaviors. I understand that observing real children and observing children from recorded videos are totally different. I enjoy activities with children. It gives us satisfaction when we implement lesson plans made by us in the classroom and children enjoy it. I learned many methods to engage children in the circle area during story time or reading books. I am applying the CSPAR strategy during story time and four’S during letter or word recognition time. I am done with many rating scales and checklists. With the help of my mentor's feedback, I am improving areas of my weakness. I mainly focus on the way of communicating with children because conversation according to their language development stage is important. I have learned the daily paperwork required to complete in the classroom. I think in my next placements, I will do most of the things on my own. This field practice changed the way I practice or work with children. In the future, as an ECE I will use all strategies I have learned during placements. Moreover, I will take my mentor's final term feedback positively and take some suggestions to improve my weak areas. I will miss all the children after this week.

At Gramo Joy Pre and Primary, Friday afternoons come alive with the laughter and energy of our young learners. Each week, our spacious community playground transforms into a vibrant arena of sports activities, where every child eagerly participates. This tradition started with the simple belief that outdoor play is the language of children—a universal mode of expression that speaks to their innate need for exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Imagine a typically reserved student in the classroom who blossoms on the field. With a soccer ball at their feet, they communicate effortlessly, forming bonds and learning teamwork. Through play, these students develop essential motor skills, resilience, and a sense of fair play. Outdoor activities also provide a natural platform for experiential learning, fostering problem-solving abilities and boosting confidence. Our sports afternoons are not just about physical exercise; they are a cornerstone of wholesome child development. Here, children learn to navigate social dynamics, express themselves freely, and build physical strength—all critical components for their overall growth. At Gramo Joy, we believe that every sprint, jump, and game played on the play ground contributes to molding well-rounded individuals. We are proud to nurture not just the minds but also the bodies and spirits of our students, ensuring they grow into healthy, happy, and balanced adults. Outdoor play isn't just fun—it's a vital part of childhood development, and we see its benefits unfold every Friday on our playground. #GramoJoy #ChildDevelopment #OutdoorPlay #SportsActivities #HolisticEducation #HealthyKids #PlayToLearn #ChildhoodDevelopment #Teamwork #PhysicalEducation #ExperientialLearning #HappyHealthyKids

Involve Your Children in Household Chores for Their Growth and Development! Teaching children to participate in household chores isn't just about sharing the workload – it's about preparing them for life. When children take part in daily tasks like cleaning, cooking, or organizing, they develop essential life skills, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. Why involving children in chores is important: 🔸 Life Skills: Children learn how to manage time, organize, and complete tasks, skills they’ll carry into adulthood. 🔸 Responsibility: Completing chores teaches them accountability and the importance of contributing to the household. 🔸 Teamwork and Cooperation: When working together as a family, children understand the value of teamwork and collaboration. 🔸 Boosts Confidence: Successfully finishing a task can improve their self-esteem, making them feel capable and independent. Remember, it's not about perfection but about teaching them the value of effort and contribution. Start small and make it fun! #ParentingTips #ChildDevelopment #LifeSkills #HouseholdChores #RaisingResponsibleKids #GrowthAndDevelopment #Teamwork #FamilyValues
