The interior design industry is abuzz with terms like sustainability, biophilic design, and neurodiversity. But are we truly embracing these principles, or are they becoming surface-level trends? One leafy cushion doesn’t make a design biophilic. One eco-friendly feature doesn’t make a project sustainable. And token adjustments don’t equate to designing for neurodiversity. Whilst I agree that even taking small steps towards these design prciniples is a good thing - authenticity and depth are key. Whether it’s sustainable sourcing, evidence-based biophilic principles, or consulting experts to meet diverse needs, meaningful implementation builds credibility and impact. What do you think?
