𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲? Scams don’t only cause financial harm to consumers, but they impact them emotionally too. Following research from the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA)’s ‘The State of Scams in the UK’ report, 53% of victims felt a strong emotional response after being scammed. However, 71% of people still did not report the crime – suggesting they may have been ashamed to do so, blamed themselves, or lacked the confidence that their complaint would be dealt with.
