India's ambitious 5th generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program is nearing a critical milestone. With Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approval secured and over $2 billion allocated, the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) is set to make a crucial call - choosing a co-development partner for the AMCA's engine. According to reliable sources, DRDO has concluded most discussions with potential partners - French Safran, American GE Aviation, and British Rolls-Royce. Negotiations focused on intellectual property rights (IPR) and investment terms. DRDO will submit its recommendation to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) based on these evaluations. The MoD's final decision will likely involve a careful balancing act. GTRE's technical evaluation will be weighed against geopolitical considerations. The ideal partner will offer a clean-sheet design, free from the limitations of older-generation technology, which is paramount. Both Safran and Rolls-Royce have reportedly offered such designs. Both Safran and Rolls-Royce have reportedly offered clean sheet designs for a 6th generation engine, ensuring India retains ownership of the IPR. Additionally, they have guaranteed export-restriction-free engine technology, allowing India greater flexibility in future sales. Each company has proposed that investments required in the program by India will be to the tune of around $5-6 billion. Since the need for "clean sheet" designs requires additional investments in the technology, it will take around four years to develop a prototype and another three years for a near production-ready engine to be tested on the AMCA prototype. With negotiations complete, the ball is now in DRDO's court. Their recommendation, coupled with the MoD's strategic assessment, will determine which company will collaborate with India on this critical project. The chosen partner will play a vital role in developing a next-generation engine that propels the AMCA to air superiority. #aerospace #falkorspace #drdo #GasTurbine #defence #india

Proud!! Another GVT test carried out on a complex structure .Tests carried out with our unique constant force longe stroke modal shakers EX 220C 40 delivering a force of 250 N. Due to our design ,the shakers are invisible for the structure as it should be! Light moving system,no spiders therefore absence of internal stiffness. The Amplifier type A 648 SC controls the constant current, therefore the constant force.( Force= Strength of the magnetic field in gauss*Current from the amplifier in Amps*Length of the coil wire in the lineare magnetic field. The current delivered from the amplifier in N/AMPS is available for the acquisition system in order to be compared with the force measurement from the transducer. This is important as the force transducer measures as well the force generated by the moving system F= Masse * acceleration. PRODERA shaker systems excite the structure on the mode to be analysed for easy acquisition of the modal data. As you will notice ,as a shakers needs to be suspended, the suspension system is integrated in the trunnion mounting. We conducted Ground Vibration Tests (GVTs) together with our partners at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) certifying the stability and safety of our aircraft, increasing its longevity. The GVTs provide us with dynamic structure properties, allowing us to adjust our models and simulate all conditions needed. Congratulations to the team of experts behind these tests for the successful outcome! Learn more from our experts by checking out the video below.
