I am delighted to share some interesting facts about myself and look forward to connecting and getting to know each other better. ⏳Discipline I guarantee that I am a disciplined person because it is reflected in my daily routine habits. I feel anxious and uneasy if I am late or fail to meet deadlines. I will ensure to submit assignments before the deadlines and arrive early for programs or classes, barring any obstacles or inconveniences. 🙇♀️Self-determined I consider myself a strong-minded individual; if I want something, I will work hard to achieve it. I know what I want, and I will ensure to pursue it. I dislike being told what to do or how to be because this is my life, and I choose my own path. 📝Passionate about self-development My goal from last year was to learn new things, acquire new skills, and gain more knowledge and experience. I believe I have achieved this to some extent, but this year, I aspire for more, particularly in enhancing my communication and networking skills. 💭Forward-thinking From a negative perspective, I tend to overthink things. To counteract this, I will ensure to be well-prepared, creating checklists to ensure I don't overlook anything and always having backup plans in place in case Plan A doesn't work out. 🥳Outgoing personality I used to consider myself an introverted person before actively participating in university programs. Now, I see myself as more of an ambivert, leaning towards extroversion. I can blend in with anyone, but if you're close to me, I'll be the one cracking jokes and being outgoing. As we navigate our professional journeys, it's crucial to reflect on the paths we take and their broader implications. Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul recently remarked, "We need to take into consideration that some engineers might not be practising. When I was in CIMB, half of my former colleagues in the exco were engineers. The reason is because engineers' starting pay is low as compared to the services sector." This sentiment resonates with me deeply. Although I am currently in the financial sector, my engineering background remains a foundational aspect of my skill set. However, like many others, I am not fully practising engineering but work in a technical field. This brings us to a critical question: what is the future of our engineering sector if this trend continues? The engineering profession is important for innovation and development, yet many have left the engineering career path due to low salaries compared to other sectors. How can we ensure that engineering remains a viable and attractive career path for future generations? My propensity to lend a helpful hand to others is a reflection of my deeply rooted kindness and empathy. 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐤? I graduated right at the start of the great financial crisis. I sent hundreds of resumes & no calls. 20.08.2008. I will always remember this date. Not because it’s easy to remember. It was the day of my first job upon graduation. I was an Accounting & Finance degree holder. I even had a Diploma in Islamic Banking which I pursued concurrently with my degree. How is it that I could not secure a job? Then, an opportunity came up and I secured an interview with Maybank as a product development executive. As it turns out, the interviewer and my reporting manager was my ex-course mate during the diploma course. I was offered the job but the pay was really low. Way below the average starting salary of a fresh graduate back then. I accepted it still. I kept my head down because this was my foot in the industry. I networked and proved my worth with strong work ethics. My motivation was simple. I’d rather earn something and gain experience than being unemployed. A year later, another opportunity came at CIMB and eventually rising up internally to end my banking career with a role at private banking. These experiences have led me to be more resilient, persevere and adapt. I always adopt a willingness to learn and grow, all of which are key values that I carry with me in my job as a realtor and for my clients.
