Less than 5 kg/m2/year - showing the path towards netzero Three years of dedicated design- and explorative innovation has come to and end: Finally we can share our Earth Shot project in the North Harbor, Copenhagen. We have created a 6 floor/13.000 m2 residential pushing the standards for super-low carbon emission buildings. The constrains have been high doing resi in dense urban areas with an exiting zoning plan. We start building next week. Three cultural principals has been our driving force: 1. Partnership and Open Source = We are sharing all insights of this project. 2. Tested and proven prototypes = working with the most forward leaning suppliers 3. 🌍 Reflecting on #TechSustain: Advancing Infrastructure Solutions for a Greener Tomorrow 🌍 Last March 20th in Madrid, we took part in an event focused on the future of sustainable construction. Hosted by Zacua Ventures, CEMEX Ventures, and Ferrovial, #TechSustain brought together some of the world's leading builders, suppliers, and innovators, including giants like ACCIONA, SACYR, Cemex, Hilti Group, CRH, and more. We were thrilled to contribute to these conversations. The event was structured around breakout sessions, where groups of atendees dove deep into specific topics critical to the industry's future, such as health and safety, the use of AI, new construction materials (including those created from C&D waste) and sustainability. Theses discussions were enlightening and also instrumental in forging pathways and connections to foster more sustainable construction practices and innovative solutions. It was inspiring to see the collective expertise and commitment to change from industry leaders and startups alike. The collaborative environment fostered by #TechSustain underscored the importance of joint efforts in overcoming the challenges we face in carbon emissions, resource consumption, and waste management in construction. The focus on trends like green building certifications, innovative materials, and digital twins highlighted the industry's readiness to embrace the future. We had the chance to meet a few interesting startups that are already pushing to be part in the transformation towards a more sustainable model. Strong by Form with a premium CLT that is not only great sustainable material but also beautiful. Or ecoLocked that creates functional, CO2-negative building material additives and helps the construction industry build with climate-friendly alternatives. As we reflect on the outcomes and insights gained from #TechSustain, we're reminded of the urgency and the immense potential for positive impact within this sector. Lene Damsbo Brix, co-founder and partner at Circue, Copenhagen, opened in April with a presentation and discussion exploring circular construction at a systematic level, through a lens of political, business, and personal incentives.
