Hey there, Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, your members, along with many others, are probably interested in our latest webinar offering, "Protecting All Members of the Family: Addressing the Intersection of Domestic Violence and Animal Abuse," on February 13, 2025, at noon to 1:00 p.m. This webinar explores the critical overlap between domestic violence and animal abuse, highlighting how harm to pets can often signal or exacerbate abuse within the home. Participants will gain an understanding of the unique legal and emotional challenges faced by survivors of domestic violence with pets. The session will delve into legislative efforts and public policies designed to protect both people and animals, including pet protection orders and shelter resources for survivors and their pets. This is one installment of a three-part series presented by the Public Interest Law Section of The Florida Bar and the Animal Law Section, The Florida Bar, offering legal practitioners insights into cross-disciplinary strategies to safeguard all members of the family—human and animal alike.
