One thing that is often overlooked for hospitality leaders is that they have transferable business management skills— in a pressure packed environment that is far from controlled. We have the ability to multi task on so many fronts when we have normal checklist items to be done, unexpected guest issues of varying severity, and staffing issues. Our ability to listen to, comprehend, prioritize, delegate, resolve, and follow up on all of the above makes us some of the best under pressure business managers out there. It’s often overlooked by outside the community professionals and hiring managers because they’re used to controlled 8a-4p controlled business settings that can almost be rehearsed and then tackled with blindfolds on.
