The first of many annual holiday photos and, naturally, Valentina was the horse I chose. I love everything about this photo. I love that Val’s eyes are closed. I love that mine are open. I love that this fantastic blazer is far too large for me now. I love that the bow on Val’s forelock is sideways. I love that the friend who took this photo cared enough to snap 50 which gave me this. I love that the only tree decorated is the one on the driveway next to the wash of our Mountain Springs (just west of Las Vegas) home. I love that the ornaments look photoshopped (have I aged myself?) but were real. I love knowing that I found ornaments in the wash for years to follow. These are the big joys that looking at one old photo offer. Here’s hoping everyone has this sort of photo that can be viewed now! BixRoHorseHaven.org

Did you know artichokes are actually flowers? Or, more precisely, inflorescences. When they dry, they take on an entirely different character — chaotic yet intricate, raw yet elegant. For this photo, I flipped a dried artichoke from my garden upside down to highlight its unexpected texture. Those overlapping scales remind me of pine cones — perfectly imperfect, disorganized yet balanced. Pairing it with the clean lines of this watch felt like the perfect way to mix nature’s rawness with human precision. To me, this image reflects life: at first glance, things can seem messy or random. But with a little time and perspective, you start to see how the pieces fit together — how even chaos has its own order. What about you? Do you see more chaos or more order in this image? #productphotography #flashphotography #studiophotography #watch #creativework #commercialphotography #personalproject #artichoke #ingersoll #stilllife #fall #autumn #precision #craftmanship #watchphotography #luxurywatches #creativevision #natureinspired #photographyinspiration Zeon Ltd

New on my Substack... "Some people look at the whole garden as a beautiful thing. I see that beauty, but I look deeper into the garden for something more. When I look at the garden, I see each flower as a unique individual, like people, waiting to have their portrait captured. That is the allure of garden and flower photography for me. No two flowers are alike, just as we humans are all different. The two Starlight Coreopsis flowers below are dramatically different and each flower is from the same plant."
