3 simple ways you can honor a veteran this Monday, on Veterans Day. 🇺🇸 🪖Veterans Day (Nov 11) is a time to recognize all U.S. military veterans—living or deceased—for their service. 🎖️While Memorial Day (last Monday in May) specifically honors those who died in service. This Monday, I encourage you to do 3 simple things to show your gratitude: 1. Recognize Acknowledge their service with a simple, heartfelt “Thank you for your service.” It goes a long way. 2. Inquire Show genuine interest by asking questions like, “What branch did you serve in?” or “What was your role?” People appreciate when others take the time to ask about their experience. 3. Listen This is the most important part. Give them the space and time to share their story, and really listen. If they want to talk, be there for them. Ask follow-up questions like, “What was one of your most memorable moments?” If a veteran is reluctant to share, that’s okay too—simply thank them for their service and respect their space. These small gestures can make a big impact. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope these tips help you connect with and honor the veterans in your life.

We get to sleep like a baby with little worry about our country being attacked. This little-appreciated fact is because of the sacrifices of military veterans. A quote from the Department Of Defense website: "Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace — dead or alive — although it’s largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices." ► If you know a vet, reach out and express appreciation. ► Take a minute to connect meaningfully...not just "lip service". ► We have what we have in this country because of the sacrifices of veterans. +++++++++ Interested in a strategy for website content? Today is Veterans Day—a time to honor those who have served, sacrificed, and dedicated their lives for our country and our freedom. It is disheartening, however, that many companies don’t formally recognize or celebrate this day. Given that U.S. organizations (and beyond) benefit from the security and liberties protected by our veterans, acknowledging this day isn’t just symbolic; it’s a demonstration of respect, gratitude, and unity. One day… That’s all we ask to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and service of our military veterans. For many organizations, observing Veterans Day as a day off isn’t standard practice, but it should be. This isn’t about shutting down operations for the sake of it—it’s about recognizing the contributions of those who served, giving employees time to reflect, and demonstrating real gratitude as a community. To those companies that take the day to honor our veterans, thank you. For those who don’t, let’s remember: it’s not just a holiday; it’s a chance to show respect to the men and women who’ve given so much to protect our way of life. Most importantly: To all veterans—thank you for your service past and present. You truly define the ethos of what makes America great! #America #Veterans #Unity

In honor of Veteran's Day, our facilitator of the employee resource group Coalition Veterans, Blake Feldman, shared his experience transitioning from the military to a civilian workforce. "While the imagery of home, family, and friends can be joyous, there’s also a sense of deep loss as a veteran learns to deal with the fact that their military service is only a chapter in the book of their whole life." Read the full Q&A to learn how employers can improve the transition for veterans and how we can overcome challenges that result from unconscious bias: https://bit.ly/4emneJO

Challenging Perspectives on Veterans Day and Military Service As we approach Veterans Day, I find myself reflecting on how we view military service and the concept of “glorifying” those who serve. Around the world, soldiers are often cast as heroes, symbols of courage and sacrifice. Yet, there’s another side we rarely discuss: what it means to send young people into wars that may not serve clear moral or legal purposes, where they risk—and often lose—their lives for interests that can be difficult to justify. In the U.S., the way we honor veterans can sometimes feel like a cultural ritual designed to shield us from confronting the ethical and political questions around these conflicts. Glorification can provide comfort to families, yet is it not also a way to obscure the darker reality of how these wars impact people and societies across the globe? My question is: how can we genuinely support veterans while also promoting a conversation around the policies that send them into harm’s way? What does meaningful honor and support look like when we view it through a lens of responsibility and accountability? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this complex topic.
