For example, the Quantum Technologies Flagship, launched in 2018, is a large-scale, long-term research initiative with an EU-funded budget of €1 billion, bringing together research institutions developing European scientific leadership and excellence in this field. Targeted research and innovation efforts are essential to strengthen the EU's position in relation to its global competitors. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲'𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁! #EUElections2024 As Margrethe Vestager, executive vice-president for a Europe fit for the digital age, pointed out: "Skills are essential if we are to do what we set out to do with technology." Europe is currently facing a shortage of digital experts capable of developing cutting-edge technologies for the benefit of all citizens. To bridge this gap, programmes and initiatives are needed to encourage the training and #development of #digitaltalent. This is why CIO Platform Nederland, Beltug, Cigref, and VOICE - Bundesverband der IT-Anwender e.V. propose in their Manifesto to resume or continue European work on the formalisation of digital talent. By investing in digital talent, we are shaping a prosperous future for Europe, where innovation and economic growth go hand in hand with inclusion and #well-being for all citizens. In our recently published #Manifesto, the European sister organizations CIO Platform Nederland, Cigref, Beltug and VOICE - Bundesverband der IT-Anwender e.V. call for an ambitious three-fold approach to investing in digital skills: - Provide all citizens with digital skills for their daily lives - Equip professionals with the digital skills they need in the workplace - Provide experts with the skills they need to develop new #technologies This proposal is in line with European work such as the Compass to 2030, which focuses on four main points, including a significant increase in digital skills. It is also in line with the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL), a new funding programme focused on bringing digital technologies to businesses, citizens and public administrations. DIGITAL AGENDA 2024-2029 Many reports have stated the obvious: it is the digital competitiveness that will decide the future of Europe. Our economic prosperity is determined by being at the forefront of technology. However, the digital policy of the EU can so far be seen as a strategic failure. In the wake of a new EU Commission, we need a radical rethinking. Digitalisation needs to be on top of the agenda. Yet, "digital" as an encompassing term is not even mentioned in the portfolio titles of the cabinet nominees. We need a #digitalagenda 2024-2029 for EU #competitiveness and #innovation for the next five years, built on: 1️⃣ better regulation 2️⃣ digital enforcement 3️⃣ a data access strategy 4️⃣ strategic investment 5️⃣ a sustainable digital infrastructure, including digital skills 6️⃣ a robust industry strategy 7️⃣ and a clear strategy on security See the key points that we need to focus on in the next 5 years HERE 👇

Dear Axel Voss, We agree we need to accelerate Europe's digital agenda. We should start with company laws and investment process, which in countries like Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, are still mainly analog due to non-enforcement of directives 2019-1151, and loopholes that favor historical pro-red tape lobbies like notaries. Why it's important? Because European tech companies need to be competitive from the very first step an investor makes: the investment process has to be fully digital, timezone-agnostic, and founders like investors should be able to decide which digital tools and languages they use. And obviously, Europe, European Commission, European Parliament, if they want to succeed on the digital agenda, should consult the founders of Europe, that's the only way.
