And that's a wrap until Friday or almost! Beyond the endless networking and learning opportunities that come with being a CIPD student, attending events like this year’s Annual Conference is vital in my role as an advisor. It's an opportunity to gain fresh insights, enhance my skills, and bring back new perspectives that directly benefit our business. These events allow me to connect with industry peers, learn from thought leaders, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in HR. From this I can then explore innovative approaches that help drive our business forward. #HR #PeopleandDevelopment #cipdACE #HRAdvisor

🎓 CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management! 🎓 What a journey it’s been to achieve this certificate! 🚀 behind the scenes: 🌟 Starting at Represent: 🌟 Back in January 2023, I joined REP in a brand-new role as an HR Manager. With nearly a decade of HR experience under my belt, I’d never specialised exclusively in HR. (Fellow EA's from SMEs, know what I mean—our versatility knows no bounds!) I understood the practical side of HR—policies, procedures, and day-to-day team support—but I wanted formal learning. 📚 Taking on the CIPD Level 5: 📚 In March 2023, I embarked on the CIPD Level 5. Balancing work and extra studies is always a challenge, but at Represent, it’s next level 🚀 We never stand still. Picture 12-hour days and weekends dedicated to assignment deadlines, all without ever missing a session at the 247 gym! 🌱 Qualification vs. Experience: 🌱 While qualifications aren’t everything, they do complement experience. Drive, relentless learning, and a hunger for growth matter just as much. Before I finished my course, I was promoted to Head of HR - Thank you Paul Spencer 🙏 🔍 Solidifying My Seat at the Table: 🔍 This certificate isn’t just a piece of paper, it’s the perfect complement to my knowledge. It solidifies my place at the decision-making table. 🙌 I’m proud of time and dedication I invested to achieve it. 🚀 The Mission Continues 🚀 It doesn't stop here, I still attend webinars, CIPD events (finally meeting my course mate Cerys Cross), HR Forums and network with like-minded people professionals. Learning never stops ✨

Following our post last Friday on who we think would benefit from Wood for the Trees, we now want to look at the anticipated outcomes of the programme. Wood For the Trees is a three-day programme focused round a relaxed outdoors environment as the setting for a guided process of relationship building, strategy planning, and problem solving. As a leader or group of leaders, by the end of Wood For The Trees, you will have worked through a significant concern - what we've called “the thing you’re stuck on”. Each event will be different, but we anticipate the outcomes to be that participants will have had: · the support of two experienced Guides (David and I). We have between us over 50 years of experience in a comprehensive range of organisations – public, commercial and third sector. We have worked at all levels, up to and including Board, on strategic, operational and relationship issues and we can point to plenty of success. · the opportunity to creatively re-evaluate your approach to a concern and develop a plan for further work · the chance of developing different kinds of working relationships with colleagues · the chance to have done the creative thinking about a (probably) complex problem or problems where you needed space and time to bring a different kind of power to your thinking · the chance to have a great time in the countryside away from your normal environment - and thereby experience all the stuff that we know about the psychology of creating stimulating moments both for creativity and for recall From our own experiences, we have benefited from being in similar situations and having the opportunity to gain different perspectives. Hence the name - and the anticipated outcome that you will have the opportunity to see the wood for the trees and to develop an implementation plan to move you forward. If you’re interested, get in touch with David or Mike on LinkedIn, or e-mail Mike at mike@aegirconsulting.co.uk. We are looking forward to hearing from you. 26 days to get your nominations in. Being the MC for the CIPD Middle East Awards on the 5th December i want to share the journey in the build up to this important event. 1 main reason is that these awards are not like pay for a table and you get an award. There is a process that will be followed to ensure that the people in HR get the recognition they deserve. BUT! This only happens if you nominate your team/company! Cut off is the 30th September. Yesterday I met with one of the judges to get some insights to share with you that can help. Meeting one of the judges yesterday, Khaled Fathi was a great experience for me, I learned and am a thankful for his time. ✅ Be prepped for questions after your presentation. ✅ Everyone gets a chance, doesn’t matter about how small company is, if you’re making a difference, you’ll be heard. ✅ How involved were you with the project? Or was it vendor led, what was that journey like? Khaled understands the importance of the CIPD qualification because he knows if you have those letters after you’re name, you have worked hard to obtain them. I’ll be meeting other judges in the coming days and will share some further insights. Have you nominated your company for these prestigious awards? I have put the link in the comment box below. Reflecting on another successful quarterly #HRtogether meeting yesterday, I am filled with pride for our fantastic HR team at SUEZ UK. Around 50 of the team members joined the Team Meeting where I shared important business updates to ensure everyone has current information and is aligned with our strategy and goals. I think it’s vital that teams get together regularly, virtually or otherwise, and that they have direct access to the key business messages and priorities of the senior leadership team. As part of the agenda, we heard from Amy Knight, Assoc CIPD, Assistant HR Manager, who provided an insightful overview of our acquisition in Devon. Knowledge sharing like this is vital for continuous learning and process improvement as we grow and develop our business and she did a great job delivering this session. Portia Wing from our Business Transformation team also attended. Portia has been instrumental in helping us upskill and embrace the language of continuous improvement and today focused on problem-solving, a core skill for any team striving for improvement. I am keen that all my Business Services teams ‘learn the language’ of lean and gain confidence in using the tools directly to improve our HR performance and processes as well as part of multi-disciplinary teams solving business problems. Following Portia’s learning session, our current HR continuous improvement project leads Joanne Stirling, Eva Willmott, Sam Stokes on behalf of Adam Chancellor, Evie Jedruszczak and R. Tadelayo Sodipe then presented their updates on the improvement projects they've been working on since the beginning of the year, guided by Portia's expertise. Their dedication and collaborative spirit are fantastic to see and infectious for the rest of the team. Empowerment to stop and question what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, and importantly, to think through how our work can be done better, is part of the DNA we are creating. Continuous improvement and cross-team collaboration are non-negotiable for us at SUEZ UK. Mixing ideas and learning from each other is the only way forward. We know, the seven most dangerous words in business are, "We have always done it this way." Thank you to everyone who contributed to the session. It's always great to hear from different team members, and it allows us to really make the most of our time together by sharing different insights and perspectives. #HR #Leadership #ContinuousImprovement #TeamSpirit #BusinessTransformation

WORKS COUNCIL OPERATIONS & TEAM BUILDING PROGRAME The functionality of a Works Council is essential for sustainable lndustrial Relations & optimum productivity. This goes beyond reciting the provisons of Section 25A of the Labour Act, Chapter 28.01. Works Councils need to function like a TEAM despite the differences in 'constituency jackets.' Companies must be intentional about Works Council Team Building.
