HelpAge India was honoured to participate in the Palliative Care Partners Meet 2024, hosted by Cipla Foundation in Mumbai. It was an enriching and inspiring event which highlighted various initiatives and learnings. Many elders facing chronic illnesses or serious health conditions often struggle with managing pain, symptoms, and emotional distress. For them and their families, the journey can be overwhelming without the right support system. This is where palliative care becomes crucial. HelpAge India and Cipla, in partnership with South Goa District Hospital and Goa Medical College, are working to improve access to palliative care for elders through a comprehensive setup that includes homecare services with a dedicated palliative care team comprising of a doctor, nurse and counsellor. Along with medical support the team also provides physiotherapy, nutritional guidance, and family counselling, ensuring that patients and their caregivers are given all the support they need.

Yatharth Hospital Ltd. Q2FY25 Concall🌎 1. EBITDA Margins: 25.1% compared to 26.6% Last Year, Operational losses at Greater Faridabad hospital PAT Growth: 12% YoY 2. Beds count will increase from ~1600 to ~2300 starting from FY25. 3. They will try to sustain EBITDA margins in the range of 25-26%, even with the opening of new hospitals. Reason being other hospitals will have their margins improved. 4. They will reduce Government scheme payers down to 25% by 2-2.5 years. In the new hospitals they will prefer cash based, private insured patients. 5. Jhansi hospital's clear picture of ARPOB will be visible in next 2-3 quarters. Expectations of increase of ARPOB to 15-20k from current 12.5k. 6. FY25-26 will be having growth better than previous years. 7. They are able to attract star doctors and HODs, whose benefits will also be visible in coming quarters. 8. In next 2-3 years time, brownfield capex will be done in Greater Noida Hospital and Noida Extension to increase capacity by 200 and 250 beds respectively.

Why do DOCTORS have to face the brunt of disgruntled Patients? Is it due to the lack of Security or lower Doctor/Population ratios? OR Is it the Systemic burden that is getting passed on to the Doctors? In last week, 2 cases of VIOLENCE_AGAINST_DOCTORS happened!! 1 in Chennai (Kalaignar Centenary Super Sp. Hospital) 1 in Indore (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College - India) In CHENNAI, Dr. Balaji Jaganathan was stabbed 7-Times by Vignesh whose mother was getting Cancer Treatment. Vignesh was frustrated & allegedly upset about her treatment. In INDORE, patient's attendant got a mob to Attack on-duty doctors with belts and chairs because On-duty Doctors asked to share an ICU bed with another patient. These incidences showcase grave issues: 1st, the patients do NOT TRUST the hospital ecosystem 2nd, the patients expect VIP treatment even in Govt. Hospitals 3rd, the SECURITY is borderline non-existent in hospitals 4th, the security is NOT FIT, ARMED & TRAINED to handle a crisis Now, why do PATIENTS not TRUST the hospitals and expect VIP treatment? There is definitely a huge GAP between the Expectation Vs Reality. Name me one profession where an individual is not stressed, harassed, intimidated or worst case scenarios attacked grievously. Whether at home or at work some form of physical or emotional attack is ubiquitous but definitely not the norm. If the law and law makers ensure a speedy justice to the affected individual, a lot less of this sad scenarios will happen. This is an age old systemic societal problem. My two bits for a creating a safer world around us- On social media we must must give more lung space for talking about the many good in the society and less about the few evil in the same society. Good news travels slow, bad news travels fast! Participate and share more of the good around you in a consistent way. Maybe, we as homo sapiens will be positively impacted in our thinking and acting even under duress.
