Accelerating the adoption of #circulareconomy strategies within the built environment in Canada will be critical to tackling climate change, reducing waste, and preventing further nature loss. It can also spur innovation, enhance productivity, increase cost efficiencies that benefit the bottom line, and more. These benefits are at the core to why Circular Economy Leadership Canada is launching a new Circular Construction Innovation Hub (#CCIH) in collaboration with partners from across the construction and real estate value chain. Did you know, the construction sector is the largest consumer of raw materials worldwide and the source of an estimated 40% of urban solid waste? With the growth of urban areas across Canada, and the globe, we need to work together and change our approach to construction if we want to reach net-zero—we need to implement more #circular practices. Urbanization is one of the themes being explored at #COP29 today, so join the conversation by taking a look at this story where we explore the benefits of applying circular strategies to the building sector: https://lnkd.in/gfV9YPfg #ClimateSolidarity #COP29Azerbaijan #CircularEconomy

1wMy research on Green Financing and the Construction Industry unveils the following empirical evidence: The construction industry uses 40%-45% of worldwide virgin materials, produces 75% of general solid waste, and 38% of the total CO2 footprint. For instance, the construction sector is responsible for over 35% of Europe's solid waste. My research project addresses these challenges. Contact me for more information!
