You know what’s like oxygen to your startup? Exposure. That’s right, folks. Don’t let anyone tell you different. You gotta be out there - pitch competitions, conferences, summits - whatever it takes. It’s like giving your baby some much-needed air to breathe. And yeah, I get it. You didn’t win the big prize, didn’t get the golden trophy. It’s depressing, might make you wanna throw your pitch deck right out the window. But let me share some wisdom with you: It’s on you to be so damn good they can’t ignore you. Yep, you heard me. If you and your crew aren’t bringing the heat, if you don’t have a product that makes people sit up and say, “Damn, that’s tight,” then what are you even doing? And sure, maybe you didnt claim that top spot, but at least you know you gave it everything - left it all on the stage. Now that brings me to my next point... You need the L’s to get the W’s. It’s simple math, baby. If you’re not learning from those losses, rethinking your pitch, tightening up your words, and making sure your product delivers on every promise, then you’re just spinning your wheels. And believe me, you’re gonna be spinning them a lot- until you nail it. Look, participation, exposure, getting that media love - it’s crucial. You don’t know who’s out there in the crowd, watching. Could be some random dude, could be the person you need. And here’s the kicker - you never know when they’re gonna reach out. Could be that day, could be months later. So always be sharp. Always be ready to deliver. And for the love of all things holy, keep putting yourself out there. Hit up the community, share what’s poppin’ with your startup, enter every damn competition you can find. Let the world know what’s up. The more you talk, the more you show up, the better your chances of making your startup something that lives, grows, and dominates. One thing I find important and enjoyable is the regular site visits within the group. There are developments in all five of MEKO's business areas and eight markets, which is engaging to see firsthand. This time around, I visited Warsaw and Krakow in Poland, and I had the great company of MEKO's board members Dominick Zarcone, Helena Skåntorp, Eivor Andersson, Magnus Håkansson and Kenny Brack Bräck and MEKO’s Director of Communications Anders Oxelström. Our days were well spent with a warm welcome from INTER-TEAM Sp. z o.o., and our newest acquisition ELIT Polska. Poland's automotive aftermarket industry holds strong potential due to its skilled workforce, growing vehicle population, competitive labor costs, and strategic position in Europe. With increasing demand for car parts, maintenance, and services, Poland is a key center for distributing automotive parts and products within supply chain. As many countries, Poland is adapting to the electric wave. Even though the number of electric cars on the road isn’t as high as in the Nordic countries, Poland is following the EV trend. By leveraging MEKO’s Nordic expertise in EVs, we aim to lead the way in adapting to the ongoing electric transformation of the automotive industry. This aim also includes positioning ourselves as a key player in the future of sustainable transportation in Poland.
