Calling all CNM grads - if you can make it, I hope to see you at the department homecoming event this Friday (link below)! Do join us to plug in! I remember the first time I felt like I was a part of something larger than myself - it was my days as a Girl Guide, when I first learned this idea that "Once a Guide, Always a Guide" - it was about how the shared values we learned in guiding would always be part of our identities and way of being. What does it mean to be an alumni for the department? I think and hope it means two things: 1. That the department has shaped and will continue to shape your professional and personal development; 2. You'll be willing to share your experiences with the department and others (young and younger). And once a year, we can come together as a community - CNM Assemble!
One of Asia's leading Departments in Communications and Media Studies. Visit our page: linkedin.com/company/cnmnus
Are you Plugged In yet? 🔌 Don't forget to join us this Friday for CNM's #Homecoming 2024! Come catch Sufyan Selamet, Jermaine Boh, and Ken Ng in action this Friday in a panel discussion moderated by Dr Jinna Tay! ❗ We are just left with a handful of tickets now, so hurry and get yourselves registered: https://lnkd.in/g5v_jfUV P.S. Bringing Myanmar researchers & activists on trans border activism and Internet shutdowns together with Web3 public goods builders has been a year long effort that came together. Living offline/offgrid due to pervasive surveillance, violence & Internet shutdowns is as much our future as a hyperconnected AI one. It may even be one we chose. Our hope is that decentralised tools and networks can give us building blocks for new institutions (e.g. usable money, identity, layers of privacy) outside of market and state.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out today and helped make the Digital Myanmar event—and the Un-College launch—a huge success! I believe we had around 80 people in attendance! We had participants from our local Digi-CNX group, Funding the Commons, H.E.R. DAO, 4Seas, and Edge. Did I miss anyone? We’re excited about the opportunities that all these pop-up cities are creating—there’s a collection of experience, innovation, and energy coming together here in Chiang Mai! Would you like to lead an Un-College session? Here’s the link: https://lnkd.in/gDVmiPQ3, or feel free to reach out to any of us. The calendar for upcoming events and sign-ups is available on Social Layer: https://lnkd.in/gTgmcycU A HUGE thanks to our speakers today, and a special shout-out to Public Works for sponsoring lunch! We hope to see you all again over the next month!
