Turkmenistan will soon become the 185th Party to CITES! 🇹🇲 🎉
What does this mean?
➡️ When the government of a State or a regional economic integration organisation decides to become a party to CITES, it can 'join' the Convention by making a formal declaration of accession to CITES to the Depositary Government, which is the Government of Switzerland. When the Convention enters into force in the State or regional economic integration organisation, this country or organisation becomes a Party to CITES and is bound by the provisions of the Convention.
➡️ With Turkmenistan’s accession, international #wildlifetrade in CITES-listed species in Central Asia is regulated by CITES provisions, marking a unified approach to conserving biodiversity across the region known for its unique ecological landscapes and species.
➡️ CITES will formally take effect for #Turkmenistan on 2 January 2025.

🌍We call on Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia to act and establish a sufficient number of Emerald Network sites as signatories to the Bern Convention.
From 2 to 6 December at the meeting of the #BernConvention should commit to expanding the network and protecting the stunning Balkan rivers.
Ministries of Environment, the time to act is now:
🇦🇱 Albania: Mirela Kumbaro, Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
🇲🇪 Montenegro: Damjan Ćulafić, Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development.
🇧🇦 Bosnia and Herzegovina: Nasiha Pozder, Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
🇲🇰 North Macedonia: Izet Mexhiti, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.
🇷🇸 Serbia: Irena Vujović, Ministry of Environmental Protection.
It’s time to protect the Western Balkans – for people, for nature, for the future. 🌿

Day 9 of the #30DayMapChallenge: "What If" Moment - The Aral Sea Restored
Imagine if the Aral Sea had never dwindled, staying as a vital, expansive oasis between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. This map envisions a full-sized Aral Sea, nourished by steady river inflows, surrounded by fertile landscapes, and supporting vibrant ecosystems and communities. A reminder of the powerful impact of preservation and sustainability in safeguarding natural wonders. 🌊

Last week, #Iraq celebrated the eighth anniversary of the inscription of the Iraqi #Marshes on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016. This occasion reminds us of the importance of protecting this unique site, which represents an invaluable natural and cultural heritage.
However, the Iraqi Marshes still face major threats, including environmental pollution, oil exploitation, and mismanagement of water resources. These challenges are deteriorating the marsh ecosystem and negatively impacting the lives of local residents.
We call on the Iraqi authorities to take urgent measures to protect the marshes:
- Publish environmental impact assessment reports for oil projects transparently.
- Conduct a comprehensive strategic environmental assessment of the Tigris and Euphrates River Basin.
- Review water distribution policies to meet the marshes' water needs.
- Grant national protection status to the marshes and strengthen relevant legislation.
- Enhance cooperation with Turkey and Iran for sustainable management of shared water resources.
Save Tigris Foundation and its civil society partners are continuously monitoring the marshes and providing recommendations for their protection. We invite everyone to support our efforts and help preserve this natural heritage for a sustainable future.
Share your opinions and support in the comments, and use the hashtags #IraqiMarshes#WorldHeritage#EnvironmentalProtection#ProtectorsofTigris#SAVETIGRIS#HUMATDIJLAH to raise awareness of this crucial issue.

South Africa is about to create a new Sacrifice Zone for coal and steel in the wild heart of Limpopo.
The Vhembe Biosphere Reserve region possesses some of South Africa’s most unique and pristine natural landscapes. This rich natural capital endowment will be sacrificed with the creation of the MM-SEZ, a Chinese-backed, coal-based industrial mega-project and the exploitation of a new coalfield.
At the same time, the South African government envisions the growth of a thriving, inclusive biodiversity-based economy in the Vhembe living landscape, which will be supported by the Great Vhembe Conservation Area connecting the Greater Mapungubwe and Great Limpopo Trans-Frontier Conservation Areas and the Soutpansberg Mountains.

We have developed a tire-gasgenerator® that can convert tires into fuel for gas engines or turbine power generators, creating syngas devoid of sulfur and tar.
Revolutionary waste conversion into environmentally friendly fuels without wasting water. Remarkable and sustainable.
There are no NOx emissions and no waste water is produced. With an investment of a few tens of thousands of dollars, we created the entire vertical of the possibility of small-scale waste processing for poorer countries. There are no NOx emissions during gasification in water vapor microwave plasma. NOx has a harmful effect on health and the environment, NO2, for example, is 40 times more toxic than CO.
It can be produced from waste by pyrolysis in an oxygen-free space
a) clean coal for baking and cooking,
b) oil for the heating and diesel for the car engine
c) diesel or syngas fuel for GENSET (for village electricity)
MSW, RDF, plastic, tire, etc. distillation and gasification in water vapor microwave plasma
Water vapor plasma consists exclusively of hydrogen and oxygen; both components are active reagents that participate in oxidation-reduction reactions. There is no ballast, such as air plasma nitrogen, where its percentage is 78%. When reacting with chlorine-containing substances, water vapor plasma does not produce dioxin, which is one of the most toxic substances. The flue gases produced during the gasification of the steam plasma do not contain nitrogen oxides.
The main advantage of steam plasma reactors is that there is no nitrogen in the steam plasma, the plasma reactor, the gasifier and the plasma afterburner chamber, so there is no nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The hydrogen introduced into the reaction space with the steam plasma slows down the reactions of gaseous sulphur, phosphorus and free chlorine formation, i.e. gases that are difficult to remove in the gas purification unit.
I am looking for co-partners/co-investors to build micro power plants that convert waste from landfills, ocean and riverside settlements into fuel and electricity. Our goal is to produce fuel and electricity locally from the waste collected from landfills on the river and the ocean coast, creating local jobs for the population and villages living on the coast.
We have optimized our technology for local energy production, local job creation, and cheap investment in a clean environment and our clean waters (sea, ocean, river banks).
Environmental protection continues to be our primary concern, as in the European Union they comply with very strict environmental protection standards compared to the poorer countries of the world, where they can still pollute our vital air.
