Change is inevitable but growth is optional. It's never a mere chance ,but a result of forces working together. Again, learning is a life long process. In this season of transitioning from being a full time student and finally submitting my final thesis ,I can only think of how to continue building on my competencies revolving about food science, especially in the area of food safety and food systems. Looking forward to putting this knowledge into practice. Ruttoh Onesmus #Upskilling

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is proud of David Vargas, our very own Quality Assurance and Food Safety Systems Analyst, for having his scientific research published! David’s goal is to support and empower other researchers as they navigate the critical study of food safety. “During graduate school, I experienced how graduate students usually struggle with statistics and interpretation of results related to food safety,” said David. “That is why we decided to develop a review paper for researchers who are beginning to navigate these sciences, that provides simple guidance on statistical analysis, data visualization, and results interpretation.” To read the full article, click here: https://lnkd.in/eFmYWgYn. #MakingChickenAmazing

These 3 areas should be a must study for every food science and Technology student; Before I proceed, I'd like you to know that food science and Technology is not all about cooking vegetable soups and the likes.😭 I cooked a meal during the weekend and after a series of compliments I got, someone went ahead to say: That's what she's studying in school na, so it must be good. At that moment, I was like “not again!!!” As a matter of fact, I know of some individuals that study FST but their culinary skills are nothing to write home about. Again, FST is not about cooking. There's a lot more to it than you know and there are 3 areas every food science and Technology individual must know; 📌 Food laws and standards; Navigating the complex web of food regulations and standards is essential for ensuring food safety and marketability. 📌 Food chemistry. Students explore the composition of various food components (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids) and how they interact during processing, storage, and preparation. 📌 Food microbiology. They learn about factors influencing microbial growth in food, methods for food preservation, and ensuring food safety throughout the entire food chain (from farm to fork). PS: What are the 3 top areas that you feel everyone studying your course should take note of? #linkedin #foodscienceandtechnology #techchefy

How has been a food scientist impacted your everyday life choices?? I have come to realize that formal education isn’t just to acquire a degree certificate or knowledge without its application. Being a food scientist is good but do you apply the knowledge to your everyday life and to people around you. As a food scientist there are some decisions I make, not because it’s convenient or a cheaper option but because it’s the right decision when it comes to what I supply my body with as food. For example when I want to purchase perishable food items such as tomatoes, peppers and all that I would never go for the bad ones because it’s cheaper or more in quantity. I know that there are some microorganisms responsible for that spoilage and its health implication over a period of time so I avoid it. I also know that the environment where my food is prepared is as important as the cleanliness of the food handler so I would always watch out for those before I decide if I will consume that food or not. This are just a few examples but trust me it’s more than calling yourself a food scientist, if you don’t implement it in your everyday life then what’s the need of the certificate. Or if your family hasn’t gotten tired of your corrections on the right way to handle food then change today. The truth is the change you want to see in this industry starts with you. Add yours in the comment section. #foodscientist #Health

📢 Excited to share my firs LinkedIn post and highlight this crystal clear research paper As a Food Science student, I often ponder: "What skills are essential for our field?" One might say that drying techniques are critical, and I agree. However, to become a professional, you need to specialize—whether it's food safety management, food quality management, or another area. Choosing a specific skill and understanding its prerequisites is key. This research paper aims to shed light on those aspects. Dive in to find the answers! --- Feel free to adjust it according to your choose
