NRPA advances this vision by investing in and championing the work of park and recreation professionals as a catalyst for positive change in service of equity, climate-readiness, and overall health and well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic amplified the importance of public access to parks and recreation for many Americans. This interest has persisted, with more folks taking advantage of their local, municipal, state, and national parks than ever. NRPA supports the parks and recreation field, its professionals, and the communities and individuals who benefit from using these spaces through professional development, advocacy, grants and programs, research, publications and more. NRPA has created a newly defined key leadership role – the Chief Research & Impact Officer (CRIO) – to help lead these efforts.
