Let's Celebrate the Power of Reading!Hey everyone! You know, being a librarian often gets a bad rap. Many people think it’s just about arranging books and stamping cards. I mean, sure, I do a lot of that, but there’s so much more to it—especially in today’s fast-paced, knowledge-driven world. Librarians are actually at the heart of teaching and learning, ensuring that teachers and students have the right resources to thrive. But let’s be real—my real passion is inspiring young people to read. Reading is one of those things that can often get overlooked, but its impact is huge. It’s an art that has the power to change lives. So, in an effort to remind our community just how amazing reading can be, we’ve planned something fun for tomorrow: Dress Up as Your Favorite Character The theme? "Read—Discover Your Childhood!" Think about it—what character from your childhood left a lasting impression? Whether it's Harry Potter, Matilda, or even Sponge Bob (hey, no judgment!), this is your chance to bring that character to life and remind everyone how powerful stories are in shaping who we become. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to dress up, right? Let’s make reading fun, let’s make it cool, and let’s show everyone that being a librarian is about so much more than shelving books—it's about opening doors to endless possibilities. Looking forward to seeing you all in costume tomorrow! Let’s make this a day to remember!

👩🏫 When children develop a reading habit at home, the additional exposure to language helps them develop stronger literacy skills. Creating a comfortable reading environment at home, visiting the library, and using digitally-enhanced reading materials are all great ways to encourage children to read. 📘 Parents who want to help their children cultivate an interest in reading can also set aside time to read with their children. Introducing small books into a child’s bedtime routine can be a great place to start! Learn more about how you can foster a love for reading at www.appliedabc.com/blog,

Did you know? 🧠 By age 2, a child's brain is just as active as an adults! And, by age 3, about 85% of the brain has developed. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/ep43pGxX.

Whether it's a copy of "Hair Love" by Matthew Cherry or "Whoever You Are" by Mem Fox, there are some books children can listen to over and over (and over!) again. Teachers know this, too. Titles like, "Knuffle Bunny," "Click, Clack, Moo," and "Amazing Grace" continue to popular in home and classroom libraries alike. As teachers and caregivers, we might be wondering how rereading benefits children. In our latest blog, we outline some ways that rereading books aids comprehension, builds confidence, and provides the opportunity for quality time with your young readers!
