Day 2 at the Light + Building Show was a whirlwind of innovation, with our stand buzzing more than a live wire! Crowds, ideas, and the spirit of forward-thinking defined the day. But amidst the hustle, a core Kosnic principle shone brightly: minimising waste through smart design. 🌿♻️ Our journey started with a simple yet powerful idea: modularity. This isn't just a buzzword for us; it's a commitment to creating products that are as reusable as they are flexible. It's about seeing beyond the single use, envisioning a lifecycle for each product that bends, twists, and adapts to needs yet unimagined. Each product, each solution, is a testament to a habit that’s second nature to us now - sustainability through innovation. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, shared a thought, or sparked a discussion. Your energy fuels our drive to redefine the possibilities of lighting. Here's to a future where every product we create leaves a lighter footprint on our planet. #LightAndBuildingShow #Innovation #SustainabilityInAction #Kosnic

From theory to practice, another great example of collaboration with Hanken School of Economics. This case study with KONE gave us students the opportunity to add value from recent academical studies in real life. Shout out to our team Jessica Eklöf, Artur Wikström, Elenor Girard-Reed and to the creator of the course Corporate Entrepreneurship in Practice Torkel Tallqvist. Innovation changes the future, yet previous knowledge and learnings are the tools in creating that vision.
Kicked off the morning by listening to Hanken School of Economics share their insights on KONE Siteflow as a corporate innovation product. Thankful to hear that @alexandramalmström recognizes our speed in bringing our solutions to the market and onboarding pioneering customers. Also, how she was pleasantly surprised to see that we are not bureaucratic at all, and yes, we are actually very nice people 🙂 Thank you, Pekka Perunka for organizing this for us. We are looking forward to hearing more feedback on our efforts to refine our process and features. #KONESiteFlow #KONEInnovation #CorporateEntrepreneurship

While in the UK with Tui Te Hau on behalf of Te Matarau a Māui, I had the opportunity to participate in Plexal's workshop on the circular economy in space, supported by Airbus. As we start to 'industrialise' space, how do we do that without trashing the place, like we did as we 'industrialised' earth? This workshop was a powerful example of innovation in action—bringing together the public sector, entrepreneurs, investors, and corporates for a wānanga on how to protect space from accumulating junk! Some dude thought we should rely purely on the market to sort things out - but most of the others took a more balanced and sensible approach. There was a lot of honesty in the room. One participant was very direct that their technology recycling programme was only happening because it meant they could encourage customers to upgrade more often. So if the invisible hand of the market isn't going to allow us to pursue economic and other outcomes at the same time, then what will? #MāoriLedInnovation offers some pathways here, because we embed kaupapa (values) in innovation processes and ensure that all the impacts of innovation are considered. These include the positive impacts - i.e. a multiple bottom line with culture, community, environment, voice AND economics considered. And we also think about the negative impacts too. When we industrialise space we need to do it in a way that considers 'spillover effects' - those additional positives - and 'negative externalities' - those shitty things that you would prefer to ignore. Better innovation processes will help us get there.
