🚢 World Maritime Day 2024: Navigating the Future – Safety First! 🌊 ⚓ This year’s theme, "Navigating the future: safety first!", underscores the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) dedication to enhancing maritime safety and security, while protecting the marine environment. As we look to the future, it's clear that technology and innovation will be crucial in achieving these goals. 🔎 At #STCMed, it was emphasised that collaboration is crucial for achieving the green transition. Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Crociere S.p.A., noted: “To meet our sustainability and safety goals, we must partner with both private and public stakeholders, which will require significant investments in technology and alternative fuels.” At #STCAsia in Manila, 12-13 November 2024, we will continue these critical discussions, focusing on how the cruise industry can advance both safety and sustainability in the Asian cruise market. 🗣 Topics like Navigating ESG in Asia’s Cruise Market will explore the impact of upcoming legislation, and innovation required to ensure safety & sustainability is a key priority... Whilst the session Navigating Talent Acquisition and Training in the Growing Cruise Industry, highlights the future-proof training required to ensure safety of seafarers whilst handling these new technologies and innovations onboard. 🤝 As we mark 50 years since SOLAS, the IMO continues to remind us of the importance of adapting safety measures for a future shaped by innovation and environmental responsibility. 🔗 Read more about the legacy of SOLAS and its role in shaping the future of maritime safety: https://lnkd.in/evrgkb5E Mary Bond Let’s continue to work together to ensure a safer, more sustainable future for cruising. ⚓️ #WorldMaritimeDay #SeatradeCruise #CruiseIndustry

SAS new longhaul destination is Seoul in South-Korea. The long awaited route annoucement came today. SAS start operating Copenhagen-Seoul in SEP25 with 3x weekly flights and increase to 4x weekly from S26 program. Aircraft assigned is A350-900. Seoul was not on my top 3 list on SAS next longhaul destination. South-Korea is yet to become a signifiant tourism destination from PoS Scandinavia, but in terms of business traffic the route has a potensial. PoS South-Korea on the other hand already has an established tourism demand to Scandinavia/Nordics. Finnair (Oneworld) has operated longtime between Helsinki and Seoul, driving-up tourism traffic to Scandinavia/Nordics. I had hoped SAS to start operating into South-America, primary Brasil, either Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. As there has not been any direct route between Scandinavia and Brasil, since Varig Brazilian Airlines discontinued its route CPH-SAO-RIO vv in 2006, as a result of Varig was grounded, permanently. Well, lets see if lowcost longhaul Norse Atlantic Airways will launch a direct route from Scandinavia to Brasil, operated by Boeing 787-9.

Throwback Thursday: The Rise of Air Travel in the 1920s As an aviation enthusiast, I often think about how far we have come in the past decades and, of course, how the availability of (commercial) air travel marked a revolutionary shift in Global Mobility. The 1920s were a decade characterized by rapid advancements in aviation technology and a growing enthusiasm for flight. One of the most pivotal moments was Charles Lindbergh’s historic solo transatlantic flight in 1927. The 1920s were a time of great innovation and transformation. The end of World War I left many pilots with skills and surplus aircraft, leading to the rise of barnstorming - a popular form of entertainment where pilots performed aerial stunts and offered passenger flights. This period of barnstorming helped demystify flying and made it more accessible to the public. Then, on May 20-21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew solo from New York to Paris in the Spirit of St. Louis, completing the first nonstop transatlantic flight. This 33-hour journey captured the world’s imagination and demonstrated the potential of air travel for international transportation. Lindbergh's success made him an international hero and paved the way for the commercial aviation industry. Lindbergh’s flight also symbolized a new era of connectivity, essential for the evolution of true Global Mobility. By proving that long-distance air travel was feasible, he laid the groundwork for the development of commercial airlines and international business travel. This was a significant step towards the interconnected world we navigate today. As we continue to advance in Global Mobility, it's essential to remember the pioneers who made it possible. The innovations of the 1920s set the stage for the globalized economy and the ease of travel we often take for granted. #ThrowbackThursday #MasteringGM #GlobalMobility #AviationHistory -- 🌍 Interested in more insights on Global Mobility, HR, and International HRM? Soft power Korea strikes again! I've been absolutely fascinated by how South Korea has leveraged its cultural power globally into an economic force. To quote the article below: "Today, bilateral interest between Korea and Europe is growing, driven by both economic ties and cultural exchanges," Tonidandel explained. "European companies increasingly view Korea as a strategic location for tech and biosciences. Our travel data shows that Korea is attracting global investment, underscoring the country’s growing role in global supply chains." The group’s flagship carrier has seen a shift from primarily inbound business travel to a stronger outbound corporate travel market. Today, around 35 percent of Lufthansa’s Korean route passengers are corporate travelers. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐮𝐩 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭? 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐭!
